Shandong Container House Incident

There have been incidents in multiple places in Shandong where containers have been transformed into illegal buildings and subsequently demolished in accordance with the law. Here are the details:

Laiyang City

In Laiyang City, a resident installed a container as a storage room in the Laizhong Community on Dafu Street in Chengxiang Subdistrict, blocking the internal roads of the community. After receiving a complaint in mid-July, law enforcement officers went to the scene for investigation, advised the resident, and explained the policies. The resident agreed to remove the container on the spot, and it was removed on July 27th. In addition, there was a scrapped container temporarily placed on an open space at the north end of Nanxinzhuang Village in Guliu Subdistrict. After communication, the owner removed it on the afternoon of the same day. On the east side of the open space along Bailong Road in Dongzhaotuan Village, Chengxiang Subdistrict, six containers and mobile panel houses were transformed into shops, restaurants, and dormitories, occupying irrigated land and constituting illegal construction. The staff issued a "Notice of Order to Rectify Illegal Acts", and if no rectification was made by the deadline, forced demolition would be carried out.

Other Regions

• Yantai High-tech Zone: On May 10th, law enforcement officers discovered that someone had placed container houses on the beach at the coastal section of Dongbozi Village on Binhai Road for the配套 (supporting facilities) of an offshore photovoltaic power generation project without going through the approval procedures, which constituted illegal construction. The containers were lifted away on May 13th.
• Laoshan District: On August 17th, the Beizhai Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Team carried out a comprehensive cleanup and removal of 12 illegal containers in the Beijianshengshuiyuan Community. These containers were in disarray, and some were used to open snack bars without permission, posing safety hazards.
• Tai'an: Eight small houses transformed from containers suddenly appeared overnight in the parking lot of the Wuyue Plaza, blocking the signs of the shops along the street. The local comprehensive administrative law enforcement department issued a rectification notice, and they have been removed.
• Jiaozhou City, Qingdao: The Puji Team legally demolished a container panel house in Hexizhuang Village within its jurisdiction that was illegally constructed and occupied the road. The container had been transformed into a living space, posing safety hazards.
