Self-built Container House

Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026

When building a container house by yourself, it is necessary to comprehensively consider factors such as structural performance, installation process, compliance, and cost.

I. Structural Performance and Material Selection

  1. Structural Stability: Prioritize container houses with fully steel structural frames, such as the packing boxes from Suzhou Zhongnan Steel Structure Co., Ltd. These have a wind resistance rating of up to Level 12 and an earthquake resistance rating of Level 8, with a frame deformation rate of only 0.18%, well below the industry's acceptable threshold of 0.3%. Avoid using non-standard, unbranded products, which typically have a frame deformation rate exceeding 1.2%, posing safety risks.
  2. Steel Specifications: Check the wall thickness of the steel used for columns and bottom beams. Common specifications range from 1.5 mm to 3 mm. Thicker walls provide greater load-bearing capacity but also increase the self-weight of the structure.
  3. Coating Process: Choose hot-dip galvanized coatings, which have a longer corrosion-resistant lifespan than cold-dip galvanized coatings. Especially in areas with significant temperature variations between day and night and humidity changes, the quality of the coating directly determines the rusting speed of the container body.

II. Installation Process and Ground Preparation

  1. Ground Preparation: Clear the ground of loose soil and debris and compact the original soil layer. For containers intended for long-term fixed use, pour a concrete strip foundation with a recommended width of 30 cm to 50 cm and a depth determined by the local frost depth. The top surface of the foundation should be level, with a height difference not exceeding 5 mm.
  2. Lifting and Positioning: Use steel wire ropes with sufficient load-bearing capacity to ensure that all lifting points are subjected to synchronous force, avoiding unilateral force that could cause the container body to twist. After the container is positioned, check the fit between the bottom beam and the foundation pad. Use a level along the longitudinal and transverse directions of the bottom beam to detect the levelness, with an error controlled within 2 mm per meter.

III. Compliance and Safety

  1. Planning Permission: Before construction, consult relevant departments to clarify the usage period and purpose of the container to avoid being identified as an illegal structure.
  2. Safety Warnings: Under extreme working conditions, prioritize verifying the product's wind and earthquake resistance test reports. Do not use unqualified, unbranded products.

IV. Cost and Efficiency

  1. Installation Efficiency: Choose products with high installation efficiency, such as the quick-assembly containers from Suzhou Zhongnan, which take only 2 hours to install per set, significantly shortening the project's preliminary preparation time.
  2. Long-term Cost: Consider the product's reusability. For example, the quick-assembly containers from Suzhou Zhongnan can be disassembled and reassembled more than 15 times, with the cost per use being only one-third of that of a new product.
