Prefabricated Houses in Scotland

Admin 18 de septiembre de 2026

There are various types of prefabricated houses in Scotland. Here are two representative types introduced in detail:

Prefabricated Houses Developed by Wee House Company

  • Establishment Background and Construction Speed: In 2014, 25-year-old Scottish entrepreneur Jennifer Hope, with the help of her father Ian, founded Wee House Company. These houses are constructed extremely quickly, taking only 8 weeks to complete anywhere. Among them, 3 weeks are spent on-site, and 5 weeks are used to build modular timber unit homes at a production base in Ayrshire, which are then transported to the customer's land for final installation.
  • House Features and Customization Services: The regular houses can be configured with one or two beds and are fully customizable. They can also be used as studios. Among them, the two-bedroom houses with open living spaces are highly popular.
  • Price Information: In terms of pricing, a studio starts at £54,000, a one-bedroom house starts at £75,000, and a two-bedroom house starts at £99,000, approximately 870,000 yuan.
  • Company Development: So far, the company has built 16 properties across Scotland and recently constructed a house in Chelmsford and Norfolk. Its goal is to become a one-stop shop for house building and has taken over another production base, enabling it to work on five homes simultaneously.

Modular Prefabricated Houses in the Outer Hebrides

  • Construction Location and Transportation Method: This modular prefabricated house is located in Cladach Valley, northwest of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Most of the construction work is carried out at a factory in the Welsh countryside and then loaded into seven prefabricated modules, traveling 570 miles across land and sea to reach the final destination for assembly.
  • Reasons for Construction: Construction on the island is limited by materials, labor, and transportation, coupled with harsh weather conditions. Traditional on-site construction is costly and time-consuming, making modular prefabrication a better choice.
  • House Interior Design: The interior floor area of this house is 206 square meters, with a large portion dedicated to the central living space. The design emphasizes harmony with natural elements, using soft earth tones, natural pigments, wooden floors, and natural fabrics to create a comfortable and natural living environment.
