Rural Self-Made Mobile Toilet

Admin 07 de octubre de 2026

For making mobile toilets in rural areas, you can refer to the following methods, which are divided into two plans: the modification of water storage tanks and the modification of water storage barrels. These can be optimized in combination with portable, biodegradable, and waterless flushing types:

I. Water Storage Tank Modification Plan

  1. Basic Structure Construction

    • Select a recycled water storage tank as the main body and install universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of the拖板 (drag plate, assume it's a base plate here) to ensure mobility.
    • Use an angle grinder to cut along the marked lines on the top of the water storage tank to form an open tank. Stack two open-top tanks, and fix the outer frame with self-tapping screws to form a double-layer structure.
    • Cut a rectangular opening with a height of 180 cm and a width of 50 cm on the side of the tank as the doorway. Make a hole in the interior floor and connect it to an elbow pipe. After sealing the gaps, install a toilet to ensure the smoothness of the drainage system.
  2. Functional Module Integration

    • Washing Area: Cut holes on the side of the tank, install faucets, pipe caps, and washbasins made of stainless steel basins, and connect the drainage pipes to the outside.
    • Shower Area: Connect the shower hose, bracket, and showerhead. Link the water inlet pipe of the water tank with the shower system to achieve a simple shower function.
    • Door Design: Fix hinges on the frame of the water storage tank and connect a wooden box on the other side to form a door. Install a door handle to ensure tightness.

II. Water Storage Barrel Modification Plan

  1. Main Structure Treatment

    • Split the water storage barrel in half from the middle. Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the wooden board. Use wooden strips to increase the height on the upper side of the barrel to form a wall frame.
    • Make an opening on the side of the water storage barrel, install sponge strips to build a door frame, embed plastic soft boards to form an increased-height wall, and invert the upper half as a roof.
  2. Functional Module Optimization

    • Drainage System: Make a hole at the bottom of the barrel and install a drainage pipe to form a floor drain. Connect a three-way joint on the side and extend it to the doorway as the water inlet pipe for the washbasin.
    • Water Storage Device: Place a plastic barrel on the roof and connect it with water pipes to form a small water storage device. Cooperate with a bathroom heater (a self-made water pipe structure is required) to achieve heating function.
    • Door Production: Use foam strips to splice discarded honeycomb wooden boards to make a simple door. Make holes and install connectors to ensure ease of use.

III. References for Other Types

  1. Portable Toilet: Made of high-strength plastic material and equipped with a detachable waste tank, it is suitable for temporary use or placement in the elderly's rooms without complex modifications.
  2. Biodegradable Type: Treat excrement by adding microbial decomposers. The converted organic fertilizer can be directly used in vegetable gardens, which is environmentally friendly and enables resource utilization.
  3. Waterless Flushing Type: Adopt a special sealing structure combined with adsorbent materials to suppress odor diffusion without using water, suitable for water-scarce areas or short-term use scenarios.

Precautions: During the modification process, ensure that the structure is stable and well-sealed to avoid leakage. The drainage system should be reasonably planned to prevent environmental pollution. When selecting materials, priority should be given to durability and cost-effectiveness.
