Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026

The industries and services related to containers in Rugao City mainly focus on container terminal operations, leasing services, and logistics support.

I. Container Terminal Operations
The Suzhong International Container Terminal in Changjiang Town, Rugao City, serves as a core hub. The terminal boasts a 757-meter quay line, with four 5,000-ton berths and two 10,000-ton berths constructed. Its front water depth reaches -9.9 meters, enabling it to accommodate 19,000-ton ocean-going vessels. The terminal is equipped with a 227,500-square-meter storage yard and a 12,000-square-meter warehouse, with a hinterland area of 1,000 acres. It has established a river-sea-river intermodal transportation system, connecting inland terminals in central and northern Jiangsu with ports along the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River. In 2025, the terminal initiated a green and intelligent transformation project, planning to upgrade Berth 2 to a 10,000-ton multi-purpose berth, convert Berths 3-5 into 5,000-ton general-purpose berths, and transform Berth 6 into a 2,000-ton bulk cargo berth, with the designed annual handling capacity increased to 10.34 million tons. Additionally, the terminal's on-site warehouse has become a futures delivery warehouse for rapeseed meal at the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange, with an expected annual throughput of 300,000 tons and a trade value of 700 million yuan, highlighting its strategic position in the grain logistics sector.

II. Container Leasing Services
Rugao Xuxu Building Materials Co., Ltd. added container leasing services in 2023, becoming a significant participant in local container recycling. Leveraging its main business of building materials wholesale, the company expanded into container leasing and general equipment manufacturing, providing mobile housing solutions for scenarios such as temporary construction site dormitories, emergency disaster relief, and camping. This move promotes the transformation of containers from a single transportation tool to a multi-functional space carrier.

III. Logistics Support and Industrial Extension
Rugao Port has constructed a complete ecosystem through a "terminal + bonded + warehousing + trade + logistics + supply chain" model, having opened a total of 43 Chinese and foreign shipping routes, including a direct route from Rugao to New Orleans, USA. The Rugao Cross-border E-commerce Industrial Park offers services such as container accessory sales, modifications, and repairs, and holds qualifications for specialized cargo transportation (containers), forming a full-chain service capability covering transportation, warehousing, and trade. In the first 10 months of 2025, Rugao Port handled 537,600 TEUs of containers and 64.1499 million tons of cargo, demonstrating its clustering effect as a logistics hub in the northern wing of the Yangtze River Delta.
