Renovation of Rock Wool Board Container Houses

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

Rock wool board containers can be renovated into habitable houses, but they must meet regulatory, technical, and safety requirements.

I. Renovation Advantages As a thermal insulation material, rock wool board has a high fire rating (usually Class A non-combustible) and good thermal performance, effectively reducing energy consumption and enhancing living comfort. The container itself, constructed with steel, offers high strength and durability, and its modular design facilitates rapid assembly and relocation. The combination of the two ensures both safety and cost-effectiveness, making them particularly suitable for temporary housing, construction site dormitories, or emergency shelters.

II. Key Renovation Points

  1. Ventilation and Lighting Design It is necessary to plan the positions and quantities of doors and windows reasonably to ensure sufficient natural ventilation and lighting. For example, ventilation openings can be installed on the sides of containers or exhaust fans can be mounted, while skylights or translucent panels can be added on the roof to prevent internal dampness and stuffiness.
  2. Integration of Water and Electricity Facilities Water and electricity pipelines need to be embedded, and standard distribution boxes, sockets, and lighting fixtures should be installed. For long-term occupancy, independent bathrooms and kitchens should be equipped, and connections to municipal water supply or sewage treatment systems should be made.
  3. Structural Reinforcement and Fire Prevention Treatment The original structure of the container should undergo anti-corrosion treatment, and the joints of the rock wool board should be sealed with fireproof adhesive to prevent the spread of fire. Additionally, interior decoration materials should be Class A non-combustible materials, such as gypsum board and metal panels, to comply with fire safety regulations.

III. Regulatory and Procedural Requirements Before renovation, a construction permit must be applied for from the local housing and construction department, and design drawings and material inspection reports should be submitted. During use, regular inspections by fire and environmental protection departments are required to ensure compliance with standards such as the Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings and the Regulation on Energy Conservation for Civil Buildings. For example, the thickness of the rock wool board must meet insulation requirements, and the load-bearing capacity of the container must pass structural safety calculations.

IV. Market Product References Currently, there is a wide price range for rock wool container houses on the market. Simple residential container movable panel houses (e.g., 220 yuan per square meter) are mostly used for temporary construction sites; standardized color-steel rock wool container houses (e.g., 6,900-7,400 yuan per set) come with complete water and electricity systems and partitions, suitable for long-term occupancy; high-end customized models can integrate solar power and smart security systems, with higher prices. When purchasing, it is essential to confirm that the product has passed CCC certification and fire safety tests, and to request installation guidance from the supplier.
