Rear Tailgate Mobile Toilet

Admin 21 de septiembre de 2026

Currently, there is no standardized product for the "rear tailgate mobile toilet," but it can be achieved through customized modifications, and its technical feasibility has been verified through existing cases.

From a technical implementation perspective, the development of the "rear tailgate mobile toilet" can be based on two types of solutions:
The first is a family car modification solution, which primarily utilizes the upward-flipping function of the trunk door of MPVs/SUVs and combines it with the trunk space to design a foldable mobile toilet. The core principle is that when the trunk door is opened, the door serves as a roof, and by enclosing the three exposed sides (both sides and the rear), a private space is formed. Inside, modular components such as a mobile toilet and a portable sewage tank are equipped. This type of design needs to meet two key conditions: First, it should not damage the vehicle structure. For example, heavy-duty sliding rails are used to achieve folding and sliding functions, and the rails are fixed to the vehicle body with four screws, facilitating easy disassembly without affecting the original vehicle's safety. Second, it should not violate traffic regulations. It is necessary to ensure that the modified structure complies with regulations regarding vehicle external dimensions, lighting signals, etc. In existing cases, some modification solutions optimize the folding mechanism so that the toilet, when unfolded, does not exceed the height of the vehicle roof and the width does not extend beyond the vehicle body, thus meeting the conditions for legal road use.

The second is a specialized vehicle modification solution, referring to the case where Zhongtong Bus modified an LCK6108D5A passenger bus into a three-door mobile toilet vehicle. This type of solution improves usage efficiency by optimizing the door layout, such as having the middle door correspond to the ladies' restroom and the rear door to the men's restroom, achieving functional zoning. However, such vehicles fall under the category of large specialized vehicle modifications, requiring qualifications for passenger bus chassis modifications and having relatively high costs. They are more suitable for batch deployment in scenarios such as tourist attractions and large-scale events.

From a technical foundation perspective, the modular components of mobile toilets (such as foldable walls, portable sewage tanks, and lightweight toilets) are already mature and can be directly applied to the customized development of the "rear tailgate mobile toilet." For example, high-strength plastics are used to make foldable walls, ensuring privacy while reducing weight; the sewage tank is designed to be detachable for easy cleaning; and the toilet is designed in a compact size to fit the trunk space.

It should be noted that currently, there is no directly corresponding standardized product for the "rear tailgate mobile toilet" on the market. If users need to achieve this function, they need to conduct customized designs based on the vehicle model (such as MPVs/SUVs) and usage scenarios (such as self-driving tours and emergency rescue) and ensure that the modification solution is filed with the vehicle management office or complies with temporary usage permit requirements.
