Prefabricated Wood Component House

Admin 18 de septiembre de 2026

A prefabricated wood component house is a form of architecture that utilizes prefabricated wood components produced industrially and assembled on-site, falling within the categories of prefabricated assembled buildings and modular buildings.

Application of Wood Components in Prefabricated Assembled Buildings

Prefabricated assembled buildings are constructed by producing building components industrially and assembling them on-site. The main types include panel-type, box-type, and frame-type assemblies. Although the technology often involves prefabricated concrete structures and steel structures, wood components can also be applied in such buildings. For example, in panel-type prefabricated buildings, wooden wall panels, floor panels, and other components can be prefabricated in the factory in advance and then transported to the site for assembly, improving construction efficiency and quality.

Application of Wood Components in Modular Buildings

Modular buildings break down the architecture into independent unit modules, which are prefabricated in the factory and then assembled on-site. Wood components have a wide range of applications in modular buildings, especially in North American prefabricated modular wooden houses. The wooden structural components are precisely processed in the factory in advance and then transported to the site for assembly, making construction simple and fast. In addition, domestic "prefabricated houses" have also gained recognition in overseas markets due to their advantages of rapid delivery, environmental protection, and energy efficiency, with many cases of modular buildings using wood components.

Unique Advantages of Wood Component Houses

Taking large-span glulam buildings as an example, their main load-bearing components are made of glulam, enabling architectural forms with a space span exceeding 20 meters. Glulam has core advantages such as high strength, light weight, green and low-carbon environmental protection, and fast construction speed. For example, the large-scale tourist service center built by Shanghai St. House Wood Structure Co., Ltd. used Douglas fir glulam as the main beam, achieving a 40-meter column-free space span. The total construction period was only 6 months, nearly 3 months shorter than the traditional steel structure solution. This fully demonstrates the unique advantages of prefabricated wood component houses in terms of construction efficiency, structural performance, and environmental protection.
