Prefabricated Steel House

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

A prefabricated steel house is a residential building that uses a steel structural system as its main load-bearing structure and adopts a prefabricated construction method. It offers advantages such as earthquake resistance, efficiency, and environmental friendliness, and has been applied in projects such as affordable housing and commercial housing, with its application ratio expected to increase in the future.

Structural System and Construction Method

The core structural systems of prefabricated steel houses include steel frames and steel frame-bracing systems. Standardized components (such as steel beams, steel columns, and floor slabs) are prefabricated in factories and then assembled on-site using a prefabricated construction method. For example, in some projects, 5-ton foundation piles are fixed using base plates, quick connections between beams are made using mortise-and-tenon joints, stairs are hoisted like building blocks, and gaps are finally treated with grouting. This construction method significantly shortens the construction period, with cases showing that the main structure can be erected in just 14 days.

Core Advantages

  1. Excellent Earthquake Resistance: Steel structures have good ductility and low self-weight, effectively absorbing seismic energy and reducing the risk of structural damage, making them suitable for earthquake-prone areas.
  2. High Construction Efficiency: Prefabricated components in factories have high precision, and on-site assembly reduces wet work, making it less affected by weather conditions and significantly shortening the construction period.
  3. Green and Low-Carbon: The material recycling rate exceeds 90%, reducing construction waste; the construction process has low energy consumption, aligning with the trend of low-carbon building development.
  4. Flexible Space: Steel structures have large spans, and there are no load-bearing walls indoors, allowing for flexible space division according to needs and improving space utilization.

Application Status and Planning

Currently, prefabricated steel houses account for about 7% of newly built prefabricated buildings in China and have been applied in projects such as Baotou Wanjun Metropolis and Hangzhou Qianjiang Century City Talent Special Housing for both affordable and commercial housing. According to plans, by 2030, the target application ratio of steel structures in newly started residential buildings nationwide is expected to increase to about 10%, indicating huge market potential.

Market Brands and Uses

Mainstream brands in the market include Furimei, Baisheng Creative, and Wanlong, with materials covering sandwich panels, steel structures, and concrete. In addition to residential use, they are also widely used in temporary buildings in scenic spots, construction site office areas, and worker dormitories, meeting the needs of rapid construction and mobility.

Technical Features

Some projects adopt innovative technologies, such as 5-cm-thick floor slabs that balance strength and lightweight properties, mortise-and-tenon joints that improve assembly efficiency, and base plate fixing techniques that simplify foundation treatment. These technologies further promote the popularization and application of prefabricated steel houses.
