Adding a Concrete Layer to Prefabricated Slab Houses

Admin 19 de septiembre de 2026

Adding a concrete layer to prefabricated slab houses is feasible, but certain conditions must be met and construction specifications strictly followed.

Prefabricated slab houses with columns, beams, and cantilever beams: An additional cast-in-place slab can be added to the prefabricated slabs to enhance the toughness and hardness of the floor. During construction, an electric pickaxe should be used to chisel a 12-centimeter-wide and 10-centimeter-high wall surface closely adjacent to the top of the prefabricated slabs all around, allowing the steel bars and concrete to be embedded into the wall, thereby strengthening the structural connection. In addition to properly tying the steel bars in the floor slab, radial bars should also be used to disperse stress, reduce the load on the prefabricated slabs by the floor slab, and prevent local stress concentration from causing damage.

Hollow prefabricated slab houses: Pouring concrete can increase the load-bearing capacity but also adds to the self-weight, so a balance must be struck between the increased load-bearing capacity and structural safety. If enhancing the load-bearing capacity is necessary, adding steel bars is an effective solution, and hollow prefabricated slabs generally have better load-bearing capacity than solid slabs under the same weight conditions. If reinforced concrete is to be poured, a thickness of 100 millimeters can provide sufficient strength, and a thickness of 80 millimeters can also meet the requirements for increased load-bearing capacity while being lighter in weight. The specific thickness should be comprehensively considered based on the building's usage (such as load requirements and service life) and budget. It is advisable to have a professional engineer design the construction plan according to the on-site conditions to avoid overloading the foundation or load-bearing walls due to the increased self-weight.

Construction specifications and safety requirements: If reinforcing by winding steel bars and then pouring concrete, the following procedures must be strictly followed:

  1. Design phase: Hire professional technicians to design the reinforcement plan, analyze the load-bearing capacity of the foundation and load-bearing walls, and design synchronous reinforcement plans (such as reinforcing the foundation or load-bearing walls) if necessary.
  2. Construction phase: Select a qualified construction team to ensure that processes such as steel bar tying and concrete pouring comply with standards. Regular quality inspections should be carried out during construction, with a focus on monitoring key indicators such as steel bar spacing and concrete compaction.
  3. Safety measures: Set up warning signs at the construction site and equip it with safety protection devices (such as scaffolding and safety nets). Avoid construction in adverse weather conditions (such as heavy rain or strong winds).
  4. Acceptance phase: After the reinforcement is completed, conduct acceptance and testing to confirm that indicators such as structural load-bearing capacity and deformation meet the design requirements, ensuring the reliability of the reinforcement effect.
