Ceiling for Balcony of Prefabricated Slab House
The balcony of a prefabricated slab house can have an integrated ceiling, but multiple factors need to be comprehensively considered to ensure safety and practicality. Here are the specific considerations:

1. Load-bearing Capacity
The load-bearing design of a prefabricated slab balcony must strictly adhere to regulations, with a single prefabricated slab typically bearing about 120kg. The weight of the integrated ceiling and its accessories (such as keels and lighting fixtures) must be strictly controlled to avoid overloading, which could cause the prefabricated slab to crack or the structure to be damaged. It is recommended to choose lightweight materials (such as aluminum扣板 (aluminum ceiling panels), glue-free honeycomb panels) and calculate the total load in advance to ensure it does not exceed the safe range.
2. Feng Shui and Ventilation Design
- Feng Shui Layout: The ceiling shape or lighting fixture positions can be adjusted according to personal beliefs, but it is necessary to avoid blocking the main functional areas of the balcony (such as the drying area).
- Ventilation Optimization: The ceiling design should retain air circulation channels to avoid a complete seal that could lead to a decline in indoor air quality. For example, use hollow-out designs or reserve ventilation openings.
3. Ceiling Material Selection
- Aluminum Ceiling Panels (Integrated Ceiling): Suitable for enclosed balconies or drying areas. Prioritize products made of 3003 aluminum, with film-coating/roll-coating processes and a thickness of 0.6-0.7mm, avoiding ultra-thick panels made of recycled mixed aluminum.
- Glue-free Honeycomb Panels: Suitable for scenarios that pursue large panel sizes and fewer seams. It is necessary to confirm the glue-free process (hot-melt film composite) and environmental protection level (ENF level + F4 star) to prevent glue detachment and odor in high-humidity environments.
- Waterproof Gypsum Board: Only suitable for enclosed balconies that do not have long-term drying of wet clothes. It needs to be paired with moisture-resistant gypsum board, light steel keels, and joint mesh for crack prevention.
- Ecological Wood/Sauna Panels: Suitable for leisure corners or wooden texture requirements, but outdoor-grade panels with anti-corrosion and moisture-proof treatment must be used. Avoid large-area use in areas exposed to direct sunlight or high humidity.
4. Structural and Installation Limitations
- Shape Adaptation: Prefabricated slabs cannot be freely bent, so complex ceiling shapes may be limited. The design needs to be simplified according to the characteristics of the slab.
- Installation Method: The ceiling needs to be fixed on the concrete frame rather than directly installed on the surface of the prefabricated slab. Otherwise, cracks may easily occur due to the small load-bearing area. Installation may require scaffolding or large machinery, with a long cycle and high cost, so budget planning needs to be done in advance.
5. Coating and Maintenance
The surface of the prefabricated slab needs to be coated to enhance durability. Moisture-resistant and weather-resistant coatings should be selected, and the construction quality should be ensured to avoid coating peeling in the later stage, which could affect the appearance and safety of the ceiling.
