How Thick Are the Walls of Houses Made of Prefabricated Panels

Admin 19 de septiembre de 2026

The thickness of walls made of prefabricated panels for houses varies depending on the application, with a common range from 75mm to 400mm.

I. Classification by Wall Function

  1. Indoor Partitions: Typically, 75mm-thick prefabricated panels are used. These walls are mainly used to divide indoor spaces and have lower requirements for load-bearing and thermal insulation. The 75mm thickness can meet basic sound insulation and separation needs while saving material costs.
  2. Exterior Wall Insulation: Common thicknesses are 90mm and 100mm. A 90mm wall is suitable for buildings with moderate insulation requirements, such as the exterior walls of ordinary residences; a 100mm wall further enhances insulation performance and is suitable for exterior wall insulation and the construction of light-weight houses, such as low-rise residences or temporary buildings.
  3. Heavy-Duty Industrial Buildings: 120mm-thick prefabricated panels are used. These walls need to withstand significant loads and mechanical impacts, and the 120mm thickness provides sufficient structural strength and stability.

II. Classification by Building Type

  1. Residences: The thickness of prefabricated panels is generally between 120 and 150 millimeters. The walls of ordinary residences need to balance load-bearing and thermal insulation, and the 120-150mm thickness can meet daily living needs.
  2. Duplexes or Villas: The thickness of prefabricated panels is between 150 and 200 millimeters. These buildings have higher floor heights and stricter requirements for wall load-bearing and stability, so thicker prefabricated panels are required.
  3. Shopping Malls or Supermarkets: The thickness of prefabricated panels is generally between 150 and 200 millimeters. Commercial buildings have high foot traffic and strict requirements for wall load-bearing and durability, and the 150-200mm thickness can ensure structural safety.

III. Classification by Special Scenarios

  1. Industrial Buildings: The thickness of prefabricated panels is usually above 180 to 300 millimeters. Industrial buildings need to withstand large equipment or heavy loads, so the wall thickness needs to be significantly increased to provide sufficient support.
  2. Underground Garages: The thickness of prefabricated panels can reach 300 to 400 millimeters. Underground garages need to withstand soil pressure and vehicle loads, while also meeting waterproof and moisture-proof requirements, so the thickest prefabricated panels are required to ensure structural safety.
