What Wall Materials Are Used for Prefabricated Panel Houses

Admin 18 de septiembre de 2026

Brick walls are commonly used as wall materials in prefabricated panel houses. Details are as follows:

Brick Walls Are the Primary Choice

Most prefabricated panel houses are of brick-concrete structure. In this structural system, walls mainly bear the functions of load-bearing and enclosure. Brick walls become a common choice due to their good mechanical properties and durability. Generally, brick walls are constructed from sintered common bricks and sintered perforated bricks. These bricks, after being fired at high temperatures, have high strength and stability, enabling them to effectively bear the loads transferred from the upper prefabricated panels and ensure the overall safety of the house structure. Meanwhile, brick walls also possess certain thermal insulation, heat insulation, and sound insulation properties, providing a relatively comfortable indoor environment for occupants. For example, in northern regions, brick walls can reduce the loss of indoor heat in winter, lowering heating energy consumption; in summer, they can block the entry of outdoor heat, playing a certain heat insulation role. Moreover, brick walls have good sound insulation effects, reducing the impact of external noise on the interior and improving the quietness of the living environment.

The Past and Present of Cement Prefabricated Panel Walls

Cement prefabricated panel walls were once mainly made of Portland cement and steel reinforcement frames, prefabricated into panel shapes using molds, and were early applied in brick-concrete structure buildings. They had advantages such as fast construction speed and convenient fabrication, which to some extent shortened the construction period. However, as time went on, cement prefabricated panel walls gradually exposed some problems. Due to their poor integrity and seismic performance, they were prone to cracks or even collapse during natural disasters such as earthquakes, posing a threat to people's lives and property. Therefore, cement prefabricated panel walls have now been banned in the construction field. Currently, cast-in-place slabs are commonly used to replace prefabricated panel walls. Cast-in-place slabs are formed in one go at the construction site through formwork erection, steel reinforcement binding, and concrete pouring, having better integrity and seismic performance, and effectively improving the safety of houses.
