How Many Floors Can a Prefabricated Panel House Build
There is no fixed number of floors for houses built with prefabricated panels, and it needs to be judged by comprehensively considering various factors. Generally, ordinary prefabricated panels can be used to build 3 - 6 floors, with different restrictions for different types and scenarios.

I. Floor Restrictions for Different Types of Prefabricated Panel Houses In non-seismic areas, ordinary non-modular panel houses can be built up to a maximum of 6 floors. These houses have a relatively simple structure and can bear the load of a certain number of floors under stable geological conditions. Due to the relatively fragile connections, modular prefabricated panel houses are recommended to have no more than 5 floors to ensure structural safety. The structure of prefabricated panels with small beams can be built up to 3 to 4 floors at most and is directly prohibited in areas with an earthquake intensity of over 8 degrees because this structure is prone to damage under seismic action and cannot ensure the safety of personnel.
II. The Impact of the Characteristics of Prefabricated Panels on the Number of Floors The type, specification, design strength, size (span, thickness), concrete strength, and reinforcement situation of prefabricated panels all affect their load-bearing capacity. Prefabricated panels with a small span, large thickness, and sufficient reinforcement have stronger load-bearing capacity and can be used in buildings with more floors. For example, in large cities like Beijing, prefabricated floor slabs are allowed to be used up to the 14th floor, but in actual construction, it is mostly controlled within 12 floors, taking into account various factors such as construction quality and safety.
III. Restrictions on the Number of Floors by Application Scenarios For rural self-built houses using prefabricated panels, if the number of floors exceeds 3, steel reinforcement ring beams need to be added to enhance the overall integrity and stability of the house. High-rise buildings (over 10 floors) mostly adopt complex forms such as frame structures and shear wall structures, and prefabricated panels are mostly used in non-load-bearing parts or composite structures. This is because high-rise buildings have higher requirements for the strength, stiffness, and stability of the structure, and it is difficult for prefabricated panels to meet these requirements when used as a load-bearing structure alone.
IV. The Impact of Construction Quality on the Number of Floors If the design is reasonable and the construction quality is guaranteed, ordinary prefabricated panels can generally bear the load of 3 - 6 floors. However, if there are quality problems during construction, such as loose installation of prefabricated panels and improper handling of connections, the load-bearing capacity of the prefabricated panels will be reduced, thus affecting the number of floors and safety of the house.
