Prefabricated Housing Yard
A prefabricated housing yard is a specialized facility in construction engineering for the industrial production of building components, achieving efficient construction through standardized and intelligent means, with significant advantages such as shortened construction periods, reduced costs, and minimized pollution.

I. Core Functions and Production Content
Prefabricated housing yards primarily produce two types of components:
- Structural Components: These include composite floor slabs, prefabricated shear walls, prefabricated beams and slabs, etc. These components are formed through staged compaction by concrete pouring and must be moved and transported strictly according to the designed lifting points to ensure structural safety. For example, the Niutianyang Extra-Large Bridge project completed the production of 1,517 beam slabs through a prefabricated beam yard, ensuring the continuity of bridge deck erection.
- Functional Components: Such as integrated bathrooms and kitchens, which are rapidly assembled through modular design to enhance construction efficiency.
II. Site and Process Requirements
- Site Design: It must meet the operational needs of prefabrication, movement, and storage. The foundation of the platform must have sufficient bearing capacity, and pre-camber or reverse camber should be set to offset component deformation. Some projects adopt short-line method platforms, utilizing intelligent formwork systems for automatic reinforcement cutting and linear visualization monitoring to improve precision.
- Intelligent Management: BIM technology is applied to plan the layout of functional areas and optimize material flow paths. IoT sensors are used to monitor parameters such as concrete curing temperature and humidity in real-time, ensuring quality control.
III. Transportation and Economic Optimization
- Economic Radius: It is recommended that component transportation be within a 30-kilometer radius, as exceeding this range may significantly increase costs. Implementing standardized design can reduce the proportion of irregularly shaped components and lower transportation difficulties.
- Advantages of Prefabricated Construction: Components produced in prefabrication yards are widely used in panel-type, box-type, and frame-type prefabricated buildings. Factory-based production reduces on-site wet work, shortening construction periods by over 30% while also reducing dust and noise pollution.
IV. Typical Cases and Technical Applications
The Niutianyang Extra-Large Bridge project achieved standardized and mass production of beam slabs through a centralized prefabricated beam yard, combined with intelligent tensioning equipment to ensure the accuracy of prestress application, ultimately completing bridge deck construction ahead of schedule. Additionally, some projects adopt a "mobile prefabrication yard" model, flexibly deploying production lines near construction sites to further reduce transportation costs.
By integrating industrialization and intelligence, prefabricated housing yards have become a key link in the modernization and upgrading of the construction industry, providing replicable solutions for the sector with their standardized processes and efficient management models.
