What is the Insulation Layer of a Prefabricated House?

Admin 19 de septiembre de 2026

The insulation layer of a prefabricated house is a prefabricated panel used for thermal insulation in buildings. It is made by processing insulation materials and adhesives into fixed-size insulation panels that can be directly installed on the surface of building structures.

Definition and Structure

The insulation layer of a prefabricated house comes in two forms:

  1. Factory-prefabricated insulation panels: These are produced in factories by combining insulation materials (such as rock wool or polystyrene boards) with adhesives to create standard-sized panels that can be directly transported to the site for installation.
  2. "Sandwich" structural wall panels: These are composite wall panels pre-made in factories, consisting of a load-bearing structural layer, an insulation layer (rock wool or polystyrene board), and a decorative finish layer from the inside out, all formed in one piece without the need for secondary decoration.

Core Features

  1. Excellent thermal insulation performance
    • It reduces the temperature difference between the interior and exterior of the building by blocking heat conduction, thereby decreasing energy consumption for air conditioning or heating. For example, it can lock indoor heat inside during winter and block external heat radiation during summer, achieving energy-saving effects.
    • Insulation materials (such as rock wool) have low thermal conductivity, effectively slowing down heat transfer and improving the overall thermal performance of the building.
  2. High stability and durability
    • It uses high-quality insulation materials (such as polystyrene boards or rock wool) combined with high-strength adhesives, providing strong resistance to aging and deformation, with a service life matching that of the main building structure.
    • The structural layer and insulation layer are tightly bonded, preventing cracking or detachment caused by temperature changes or external forces.
  3. Simple and efficient installation
    • The insulation panels are of standardized sizes and can be quickly installed on-site through methods such as splicing and anchoring, similar to "building with Lego blocks," without the need for complex construction techniques.
    • Construction is less affected by weather conditions, allowing work to continue even in rainy weather, significantly shortening the construction period and reducing labor costs.
  4. Wide range of applications
    • It is suitable for exterior walls, roofs, and external insulation systems of various types of buildings, including residential, commercial, and industrial structures.
    • It is compatible with different building systems such as concrete and steel structures, meeting diverse design requirements.
  5. Integrated decoration design
    • During factory prefabrication, exterior wall tiles or coatings are directly integrated, avoiding secondary decoration on-site and reducing construction steps and pollution.
    • The decorative finish and insulation layer have the same lifespan, requiring no maintenance over long-term use and enhancing the building's appearance quality.

Application Scenarios

The insulation layer of a prefabricated house is widely used for exterior wall insulation and roof heat insulation in new buildings, as well as for energy-saving renovations of existing buildings. Its modular design is particularly suitable for projects with high requirements for construction efficiency and quality stability, such as prefabricated buildings and green buildings.
