How to Decorate a Prefabricated House

Admin 18 de septiembre de 2026

The decoration of a prefabricated house should be tailored according to the type of prefabricated components, mainly divided into two categories: ceiling wooden strip installation and prefabricated panel (prefabricated concrete panel) decoration. The specific key points are as follows:

If ceiling wooden strip installation is involved, the height of the wooden strips should be adjusted first. Before installation, ensure that all wooden strips are on the same horizontal plane to avoid uneven stress on the subsequent gypsum board installation, which could lead to cracking. The spacing between wooden strips should be uniform, and the gap width should meet the requirements for wire conduit installation. It is generally recommended to leave a gap of 10-15 centimeters to facilitate wire threading during later electrical renovations. After installation, check the stability of the connections between the wooden strips and the walls to prevent safety hazards caused by loosening.

If the prefabricated components are prefabricated concrete panels, the decoration should be carried out in three steps: 1. Surface Treatment Thoroughly inspect the surface of the prefabricated panels for any pores, cracks, or release agent residues. Pores and cracks should be filled with cement-based repair materials and sanded or wire-brushed smooth after drying. Oil stains and release agent residues should be thoroughly removed with a specialized cleaner to ensure the surface is dry and dust-free. For the joints between prefabricated panels, if there is a significant height difference, level it with cement mortar to prevent cracking of the subsequent wall decorative layer.

2. Thermal Insulation Prefabricated panel buildings generally have poor thermal insulation performance and need to be improved by adding insulation layers. For walls, insulation materials such as polystyrene boards or rock wool boards can be selected, or insulation coatings can be directly applied. The thickness should be adjusted according to local climate conditions (usually 3-5 centimeters). For top-floor houses, special attention should be paid to the roof. Glass wool can be filled inside the suspended ceiling, or heat-insulating aluminum foil can be installed to reduce heat conduction in summer. If the budget allows, consider installing solar reflective film to further lower the roof temperature.

3. Sound Insulation Due to their structural characteristics, old prefabricated panel houses often have poor sound insulation. During renovation, focus on both windows and walls: it is recommended to replace windows with insulated glass or vacuum glass, and add sealing strips at the connections between window frames and walls to reduce airborne sound transmission. For walls, sound-insulating felt can be pasted or sound-absorbing panels can be installed, with special attention given to quiet spaces such as bedrooms and studies. If the thickness of the prefabricated panels is insufficient, light steel keels can be installed on the walls, filled with sound-insulating cotton, and then covered with gypsum boards to form a double sound-insulating structure.
