Relocation Methods for Toilets in Old Houses
The relocation of toilets in old houses can be achieved through methods such as toilet position shifters, converting floor drains to wall drains, modifying pipes in sunken bathrooms, and altering sewage pipes in neighbors' homes. Details are as follows:

Using a toilet position shifter: This is a relatively simple modification method. However, it has certain limitations and cannot be moved too far, otherwise, blockage issues are likely to occur. For cases with inter-floor drainage, since the floor slab cannot be excavated, the floor slab needs to be raised to install the position shifter, and it is not recommended to shift the position more than 2 meters. At the same time, to ensure smooth drainage, it is best to create a drainage slope. This method is suitable for situations where the demand for toilet position modification is not significant and the space conditions allow for raising the floor slab.
Converting floor drains to wall drains: This method involves directly connecting the toilet to the sewage riser. However, it should be noted that the toilet position can only be moved to the adjacent wall of the sewage riser and not to the opposite wall. Converting floor drains to wall drains has several advantages. After modification, the toilet is less likely to get blocked, and it is applicable to both same-floor and inter-floor drainage. However, converting to a wall drain requires building a false wall, which will occupy some space to a certain extent, but it can also be combined with niches to create storage space and increase the practicality of the area.
Directly lengthening or shortening pipes for relocation in sunken bathrooms: Sunken bathrooms have the characteristic of a relatively low floor slab position, and the internal floor can be modified. Therefore, the option of directly lengthening or shortening the pipes can be chosen to achieve the relocation of the toilet position. This method fully utilizes the structural advantages of sunken bathrooms, and the modification is relatively flexible.
Altering sewage pipes in neighbors' homes: For cases with inter-floor drainage, if consent can be obtained from the neighbors, the sewage pipes can be directly altered in the neighbors' homes to the desired position. This method requires good communication and negotiation with the neighbors and ensuring that the modification complies with relevant building codes and safety requirements.
