Northern Container House Design
Admin 16 de septiembre de 2026
The design of container houses in the north needs to comprehensively consider structural stability, thermal performance, space utilization, and environmental protection to adapt to the cold climate and special geographical conditions in the north.

Structural Stability Design
- Steel Selection and Modular Design: High-strength weather-resistant steel (such as Q355B grade) is used as the main frame of the container body, with a yield strength approximately 30% higher than that of ordinary carbon steel, forming a self-balancing system and reducing the need for additional reinforcement components. For example, Yiqi Company maintains stability in a single container body with a length-to-width ratio close to 2:1 through rigid connections between corner fittings and side beams, reducing material usage by about 15%.
- Seismic and Wind Resistance Design: In response to the seismic fortification intensity (such as 7 degrees) and wind conditions in the north, a dual-fixing mode of “wedge-shaped locks + high-strength bolts” is adopted to enhance the seismic adaptability of connection nodes. For example, the all-steel structural frame container mobile homes of Suzhou Zhongnan Steel Structure Co., Ltd. have been tested to meet a wind resistance standard of 12 levels and a seismic intensity of 8 degrees, with a frame deformation rate of only 0.2%.
Thermal Performance Optimization
- Composite Construction of Envelope Structures: A three-layer composite construction of “rock wool - air layer - aluminized zinc plate” is adopted, with the thickness of the rock wool layer controlled between 75 mm and 100 mm, a thermal conductivity lower than 0.040 W/(m·K), and a 5 mm air layer in the middle to suppress convective heat transfer. The overall heat transfer coefficient (U-value) is lower than 0.5 W/(m²·K), reducing the risk of condensation and extending the service life of the steel structure.
- Bridge-cut-off Lining Structure: Hard polyurethane foam is filled between the steel frame and the interior wall panels, and rubber thermal insulation pads are installed to reduce the heat transfer efficiency by about 40%, keeping the indoor temperature 8 to 10 degrees Celsius higher than the outside in winter without heating, and reducing heating energy consumption.
Space Utilization and Functional Zoning
- Modular Prefabrication and Flexible Combination: The main structure, interior and exterior wall decorations, and pipeline embedment are completed in the factory, and only lifting and joint treatment are required on-site, with construction errors compressed to the millimeter level. For example, the products of Baotou Xinxing Color Plate Steel Structure Manufacturing Co., Ltd. adopt a fully prefabricated approach to improve space squareness and standardization.
- Functional Overlapping Strategy: Fixed-size containers (such as 3 meters by 6 meters) achieve day-night functional switching through the variability of furniture, such as wall-mounted folding tables and drop-down bed designs, releasing activity space. At the same time, the kitchen and bathroom adopt integrated bathroom technology to form an independent wet area, reducing the need for later renovations.
Environmental Protection and Economy
- Material Recycling: The steel consumption of container houses is about 1.2 tons per standard container, and the carbon emissions are only 1/2.3 of those of concrete temporary houses, supporting full life-cycle recycling.
- Transportation and Warehousing Optimization: The volume of a folded container house after folding is only 1/5 to 1/3 of that in the expanded state, reducing transportation costs by 25% to 40% and increasing warehousing space utilization by 60%, making it suitable for emergency rescue, short-term turnover, and other scenarios.
