Mushroom-Shaped Mobile Toilet

Admin 21 de septiembre de 2026

There are mainly the following types of mushroom-shaped mobile toilets:

The first type is the world's first mushroom-driven waterless toilet. The core feature of this toilet lies in its unique fecal treatment method, which can separate human feces into solid and liquid parts. The separated solid feces are sent to a chamber lined with mycelium for biodegradation under the action of the mycelium. This design not only reduces dependence on water resources, aligning with environmental protection concepts, but also achieves harmless treatment of feces through biodegradation, reducing environmental pollution. It is a relatively innovative type of toilet.

The second type is a public toilet designed by Pritzker Prize winner Toyo Ito for the "Tokyo Toilet Project." From the outside, it resembles a mushroom and is located in Shibuya, Tokyo. The toilet consists of three independent cylindrical buildings. The tops of the cylinders are cantilevered domes. This unique design not only enhances the building's aesthetics but also has certain practical functions. The largest mushroom-shaped building in the middle is connected to the wall behind it and has an accessible toilet inside for the disabled. The two independent mushroom-shaped buildings on the sides have women's toilets, men's toilets, and men's urinals respectively. For the decoration of the exterior walls and the ground outside, red, pink, and white tiles are used, with a rich and harmonious color combination. In addition, there is a gap left between the cantilevered roof and the wall, which cleverly introduces natural light and air, making the interior of the toilet well-lit and well-ventilated, and improving the comfort of users.

The third type is the mushroom-shaped single public toilet put into use in Laoshan District, taking the "Mushroom House" at the intersection of Shenzhen Road and Tongling Road as an example. In terms of functional configuration, it fully considers the needs of users. There is an induction light at the top of the door that can display the usage status of the toilet, allowing people to quickly know whether it is available. Inside, it is equipped with basic facilities such as squat toilets, sinks, and mirrors. It also has an air odor detection system installed to monitor the air quality inside the toilet in real-time and take timely measures if the odor exceeds the standard. At the same time, it is equipped with an air conditioner, and the temperature is set to the most comfortable level for the human body, providing a good toilet environment for users. In addition, accessible handrails are set up, reflecting care for special groups.
