Accounting for Movable Container Houses

Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026

The accounting for movable container houses should be handled according to different accounting items based on the nature of the enterprise, its purpose, and the method of acquisition. Common situations are as follows:

I. Classification by Purpose

  1. Temporary Facility Use
If used by construction enterprises for temporary office or living spaces at project sites, it is typically recorded under the 'Construction Works - Temporary Facility Expenses' account. For example, if a construction company purchases three containers at 5,000 yuan each for workers' accommodation, it can be directly recorded under this account without depreciation.
  2. Production Management Use
For manufacturing enterprises renting containers for production management needs, expenses are recorded under the 'Administrative Expenses/Manufacturing Expenses - Rental Fees' account based on actual usage. For instance, if a factory rents a container as a warehouse, rental and transportation fees should be recorded under these detailed accounts.
  3. Employee Welfare Use
If containers are used for employee dormitories or welfare facilities, they may be recorded under the 'Administrative Expenses - Welfare Expenses' account. However, it should be noted that if used for both office and living purposes, construction enterprises typically prioritize recording under 'Construction Works - Temporary Facility Expenses' to avoid double classification.

II. Classification by Acquisition Method

  1. Purchasing Containers
    • One-time Cost Inclusion: If the amount is small (e.g., 5,000 yuan per container), it can be directly recorded under relevant expense accounts.
    • Fixed Asset Treatment: If the amount is large or the usage period is long, it should be recorded under the 'Fixed Assets' account and depreciated according to regulations. For example, if an enterprise purchases high-value containers for long-term warehousing, it should be managed as fixed assets.
  2. Renting Containers
    • Deposit Handling: When paying a deposit, it is recorded under the 'Other Receivables - [Company Name]' account.
    • Rental and Expenses: When rental or transportation fees occur, they are recorded under the 'Administrative Expenses' account while offsetting other receivables. For example, if an enterprise rents a container with a 10,000 yuan deposit and a monthly rental of 2,000 yuan, the deposit is recorded under other receivables, and the rental is recorded under administrative expenses monthly.

III. Special Industry Handling

  1. Real Estate Enterprises
Container and lifting fees incurred for construction projects are recorded under the 'Development Indirect Expenses - Rental Fees' account.
  2. Water Transport Enterprises
According to the 'Accounting Measures for Water Transport Enterprises', if containers are used for transportation business, they should be accounted for under transportation cost-related accounts, but specific classification depends on the nature of the business.
