Modular Container House Design

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

Modular container house design is an innovative design approach that uses containers as basic units and combines them to form modular architectural forms.

Design Features

  • Modularity and Prefabrication: Using container bodies as basic units, the design adopts a modular concept and carries out prefabricated production in factories. The container bodies can be used individually or combined horizontally and vertically to create spacious living spaces, with a maximum of three levels stacked vertically.
  • Structural Stability: The container unit structure is composed of standard components welded from special steel sections. Containers are connected with bolts, ensuring structural stability and facilitating quick and easy installation.

Advantages

  • Rapid Construction: The entire process from design to installation takes only a few weeks, significantly shortening the construction period compared to traditional buildings.
  • Low Cost: Construction costs are extremely low, as they do not require large quantities of building materials or complex construction techniques, thereby reducing overall expenses.
  • Portability: If relocation is necessary due to work or other reasons, the container house can be disassembled and transported to a new location for reassembly, offering high flexibility.
  • Customization: It supports customized designs in standard sizes ranging from 20 to 60 feet, with internal spaces that can be reasonably divided according to actual needs, meeting various requirements such as residential and office uses.
  • Excellent Performance: It boasts strong earthquake and wind resistance, capable of withstanding various natural disasters. The core materials include corrosion-resistant steel plates and eco-friendly panels, combined with shipbuilding anti-corrosion techniques, ensuring a service life of over 20 years. Some modular buildings specifically designed for extremely cold environments offer excellent thermal insulation.

Development History

In 2006, American architect Peter DeMaria designed the first nationally certified double-story container home. In 2008, CIMC quickly built a container school capable of accommodating a thousand people after the Wenchuan earthquake. In 2010, China initiated the compilation of the 'Technical Specification for Modular Combination Container Houses' to promote industry standardization. In 2012, CIMC further built the world's first recyclable container hotel for the UK.
