Mobile Toilets for Giant Pandas
Mobile toilets in giant panda-related scenarios mainly refer to the 5G smart carbon-neutral public toilets deployed in the parking area outside the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. The following provides an introduction from three aspects: technical principles, functional features, and design highlights.

In terms of technical principles, this toilet adopts a waterless flushing design, with its core processing unit being a degradation tank that opens and closes via gravity sensing. After a user uses the toilet, the excreta directly falls into the degradation tank without the need for traditional water flushing, reducing water resource consumption at the source. Its treatment technology relies on microbial degradation. By adding specific microbial strains to the degradation tank, it utilizes the metabolic activities of microorganisms to decompose excreta into harmless substances such as carbon dioxide, water, and a small amount of organic matter, achieving the harmless treatment of excreta. This treatment method not only avoids sewage discharge but also reduces the odor diffusion problem caused by water flushing in traditional toilets.
Regarding functional features, the equipment is equipped with an Internet of Things (IoT) system and has intelligent adjustment capabilities. On the one hand, it can automatically adjust the temperature control strategy according to changes in the ambient temperature to ensure a suitable internal toilet temperature and enhance user comfort. On the other hand, through built-in sensors, it continuously monitors the ammonia concentration. When the concentration reaches the set threshold, the system automatically adds microbial strains to maintain stable air quality inside the toilet and effectively avoid odor retention. In addition, the combination of waterless flushing and microbial degradation technologies enables the toilet to operate without connecting to sewage pipes, allowing for flexible deployment and rapid movement to different locations to meet the dynamic needs of scenic spots and other venues.
In terms of design highlights, the exterior of the toilet incorporates cultural and tourism elements, aligning with the cultural theme of the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and enhancing overall landscape harmony. Some locations are equipped with electronic screens that display scenic spot guide information in a loop, helping tourists quickly understand the park layout, attraction distribution, and tour routes. At the same time, they show crowd flow tips to guide tourists in planning their itineraries reasonably and avoiding crowded areas, transforming a single-function toilet into an information acquisition node and enhancing the tourist experience.
