In Hefei, Anhui Province, a person reported that their brand-new, unused mobile toilet, worth over 5,000 yuan, placed by the roadside or in the yard, had been stolen. After conducting走访 investigations, the police discovered the stolen mobile toilet covered with a white woven bag behind a supermarket. The suspect, Xia, confessed that he had committed the theft in collaboration with two others to make it easier for his 90-year-old mother to use the toilet. In another case, a two-person mobile toilet, weighing several hundred pounds and worth several thousand yuan, which had just been completed and was ready for delivery, was stolen from the doorstep of Mr. Jiang's residence. The suspect, Xia, claimed that due to the inconvenience of many people using the toilet at home, he stole the mobile toilet and placed it at the doorstep for the elderly to use. From these cases, it can be seen that in China, the reasons for mobile toilet theft are often due to the suspects' own usage needs, but they do not want to obtain them through normal purchasing channels, thus choosing theft as an illegal means.

Foreign Cases

A mobile toilet theft incident also occurred at a racetrack in Herefordshire, UK, where 35 mobile portable toilets, worth up to 40,000 pounds, were stolen. The thieves撬开 (撬开 means 'pried open' in English, here it's better to use a more natural English expression) broke the padlocks and transported the toilets away using a Ford van and a trailer. The owner of these toilets stated that this theft incident could potentially ruin their business, indicating the enormous losses caused by this theft. Unlike domestic cases, this foreign case involved a large quantity of stolen items with high value, and the thieves used relatively professional tools and transportation vehicles, suggesting that it may have been an organized and premeditated theft.
