Mobile Toilet Step Too High
Admin 20 de septiembre de 2026
The issue of a mobile toilet step being too high can be resolved through structural modifications, ramp transitions, ground lowering, threshold stone and waterproofing optimization, and enhancing safety and aesthetics.

- Structural Modification - Step Removal: If there are no pipes or other structures inside the step, it can be directly removed. Subsequently, the ground should be leveled to ensure that the bathroom floor is flush with the external floor, eliminating the inconvenience caused by the height difference at its root.
- Ramp Transition: When pipes inside the step prevent its removal, a ramp with an angle of approximately 15° can be installed. Additionally, the ramp surface should be made slip-resistant, such as by attaching anti-slip strips or using anti-slip tiles for paving. This approach is particularly suitable for households with elderly people or children, reducing the risk of falls due to the high step.
- Lowering the Bathroom Floor: First, partially remove the bathroom tiles, redo the waterproofing work, and then lay new tiles to make the bathroom floor about 5cm lower than the external floor. This not only ensures smooth drainage but also enhances usage safety, preventing accidents caused by the high step.
- Threshold Stone and Waterproofing Optimization: Choose a threshold stone that is flush with or slightly higher than the bathroom floor (no more than 1cm). Additionally, create a slight slope on the inner side of the threshold stone to prevent water from flowing outside the bathroom and reduce the height difference. Furthermore, apply waterproofing paint heavily in the step area and install a water stop strip at the bottom of the step to prevent water seepage.
- Enhancing Safety and Aesthetics: Attach anti-slip strips, tiles, or mats to the step surface, selecting anti-slip materials that contrast with the floor color to enhance visual cues. Install handrails on the wall at the bathroom entrance or sensor night lights to improve safety when using the bathroom at night. Keep the step height within 10 - 15cm or design the step in two layers, paired with tiles of the same color scheme, to minimize the visual abruptness caused by the step.
In addition, if the bathroom sink is insufficient, a side-discharge squat toilet can lower the step by more than 11cm. If you do not prefer raising the squat toilet, you can choose to replace it with a toilet or switch to an ultra-thin squat toilet. Before modification, confirm whether there are water and electricity pipes inside the step to avoid damaging the structure, and prioritize selecting a professional construction team to ensure the normal operation of the waterproofing and drainage systems.
