Mobile Toilet Signs

Admin 22 de septiembre de 2026

Huizhou West Lake Scenic Area once installed mobile toilet signs that could be manually adjusted, but these have now all been removed and will be replaced with fixed slot-type signs. Here is a detailed introduction:

Situation of the Manually Adjustable Toilet Signs Previously Installed

Huizhou West Lake Scenic Area innovatively introduced 'tide toilets', with the gender signs at their entrances designed to be manually adjustable. The original intention behind this design was to flexibly switch between male and female restroom areas during peak tourist seasons, based on the varying restroom needs of male and female visitors at different times. For example, during periods when female visitors had a higher demand for restrooms, some areas originally designated as male restrooms could be adjusted to female restrooms. This aimed to improve restroom usage efficiency, alleviate the difficulty female visitors faced in finding restrooms, and optimize the allocation of restroom resources in the scenic area to a certain extent.

Reasons for Removal

However, these manually adjustable toilet signs exposed numerous issues during actual use. Due to the lack of on-site supervision and guidance, ordinary visitors could freely change the signs. This led to confusion between male and female restroom areas, turning the originally clear restroom guidance into chaos. Visitors might enter restrooms according to the arbitrarily changed signs they saw, resulting in disorder in restroom usage. More seriously, this chaos could also lead to privacy breaches, causing great distress and discomfort to visitors and affecting their overall experience in the scenic area.

Subsequent Improvement Measures

In view of the problems with the manually adjustable toilet signs, the scenic area has removed all of them. Moreover, the scenic area has stated that it will replace them with fixed slot-type signs. Fixed slot-type signs can effectively prevent visitors from arbitrarily changing the signs, ensuring a clear division between male and female restroom areas, maintaining good restroom usage order, safeguarding visitors' privacy and restroom experience, and further enhancing the management level and service quality of the scenic area.
