Septic Tank for Mobile Toilets
The septic tank for mobile toilets is a container system located beneath mobile toilets for collecting and treating excreta. It typically consists of key components such as a fecal storage tank, fecal inlet, exhaust system, and decomposition aids.

Core Structure and Function
The fecal storage tank is the core of the septic tank, usually made of corrosion-resistant materials like polyethylene plastic or fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP). Plastic materials are lightweight and cost-effective, suitable for light-duty applications. FRP, on the other hand, is more durable and can withstand heavy-duty use, though at a higher cost. The capacity of the fecal storage tank is designed based on the number of users and frequency of use, ranging from several hundred liters to several thousand liters. The fecal inlet directly connects to the toilet bowl, ensuring smooth flow of excreta into the tank. The exhaust system expels gases produced inside the tank through pipes, preventing odor buildup or excessive pressure and ensuring a safe usage environment.
Working Principle
After entering the fecal storage tank, excreta undergo a natural sedimentation and decomposition process: solid matter settles at the bottom of the tank, while liquid matter floats on top. Under the action of microorganisms, organic matter gradually decomposes into gases (such as methane and carbon dioxide) and a small amount of residue. Some septic tanks incorporate biological enzymes or chemical agents to accelerate decomposition efficiency and shorten treatment cycles. This process does not require external energy sources and relies on natural ecological cycles to achieve reduction and harmlessness of excreta.
Material and Price Differences
- Polyethylene Plastic: The most common material, characterized by its lightweight, corrosion resistance, and low cost. It is suitable for rural or temporary settings. For example, the price of an export plastic septic tank (three-compartment large black bucket) is approximately 170 yuan, while a household PE three-compartment fecal tank costs around 1400 yuan.
- Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastic (FRP): It has higher strength and stronger corrosion resistance, with a service life of several decades. It is suitable for long-term or high-frequency use scenarios. For instance, the price of an FRP septic tank in Beijing can reach as high as 20,000 yuan, reflecting its premium positioning and durability.
Application Scenario Selection
- Small Plastic Septic Tanks: Suitable for households, temporary events, or locations with low foot traffic. They are cost-effective and easy to install.
- Large FRP Septic Tanks: Ideal for scenic spots, construction sites, or public areas with high foot traffic. Although the initial investment is high, long-term maintenance costs are low, and reliability is strong.
By reasonably selecting materials and specifications, septic tanks for mobile toilets can effectively solve excreta treatment problems while balancing environmental protection and practicality.
