Mobile Toilet Refuses Water Usage
Mobile toilets can achieve water-free or minimal water usage through various technologies, as detailed below:

Water Packaging Technology This technology uses biodegradable biofilm packaging bags to collect waste. A new bag is automatically replaced after each use. The waste is then transported to a treatment plant for harmless disposal, eliminating the need for water flushing throughout the process and achieving 100% water conservation. Its core advantage lies in completely avoiding water consumption, and the biodegradable nature of the packaging bags reduces environmental pollution risks, making it suitable for water-scarce areas or temporary event settings.
Microbial Degradation Treatment Technology Through special antibacterial materials and microbial communities, feces are decomposed, converting waste with a moisture content of over 70% into purifiable water. Some products can recycle the treated water for flushing or green irrigation. This technology requires no additional water and achieves odorless and pollution-free conditions through microbial metabolism. However, microbial inoculants need to be replenished regularly to maintain degradation efficiency, making it suitable for venues with high environmental protection requirements.
Dry Flushing Technology Some products require a small amount of water (e.g., 20 kilograms) for initial use, after which water resources are recycled through an automatic separation and purification system. The system separates solid and liquid waste, compresses and stores the solids, and purifies the liquids for subsequent flushing, achieving a “one-person, one-flush, one-person, one-disinfection” recycling model. Although this technology requires initial water usage, water consumption is extremely low during long-term use, making it suitable for scenarios that require a balance between hygiene and water conservation.
Other Innovative Technologies
- Foam Adsorption Technology: A foaming device generates foam to cover the waste surface, utilizing the foam's sealing and lubricating properties to reduce odors and assist in cleaning, requiring only a small amount of water to maintain foam generation.
- Natural Plant Extract Disinfection Technology: Plant extracts are used to decompose organic matter in waste while inhibiting bacterial growth, reducing the need for flushing.
- Closed Structural Design: By optimizing the toilet structure to reduce leakage and incorporating an efficient deodorization system, water usage is minimized. However, some designs may have water usage controversies due to sealing requirements.
Additionally, the international generic term “non-sewered sanitation systems” emphasizes their independence from traditional sewage systems, while common Chinese terms such as “environmentally friendly toilets” and “ecological toilets” all refer to similar technologies. Waterless mobile toilets utilize dry treatment technologies and high-tech separation devices to achieve solid-liquid separation. The solids are compressed for easy transportation, and the liquids are treated with absorbent materials, eliminating the need for flushing and further expanding the application boundaries of water-saving technologies.
