Painting Mobile Toilets
Painting mobile toilets must strictly adhere to the painting requirements and coating process specifications for steel structural frames to ensure corrosion resistance, durability, and appearance quality. The specific operational points are as follows:

1. Pre-treatment of Steel Structural Frames The frames of mobile toilets are typically made of welded steel structures (such as square tubes, channel steels, I-beams, etc.). Before painting, polishing treatment is required to remove rust, oil, and welding spatter from the steel surface, ensuring a smooth and even substrate. If the steel wall thickness is ≥3mm and the base channel steel thickness is ≥5mm, special attention should be paid to checking whether the welded areas are polished flat to avoid incomplete paint film coverage due to unevenness. After pre-treatment, the first coat of anti-rust paint should be applied within 24 hours to prevent secondary oxidation of the steel.
2. Anti-rust Paint Application Requirements Anti-rust paint should be applied in three coats, with the interval between each coat determined by the complete drying of the paint film (usually 4-6 hours, refer to the product manual for specifics). The first coat is the primer, which should uniformly cover all exposed steel surfaces, especially corrosion-prone areas such as welds and bolt connections. The second coat is the intermediate coat, which enhances the paint film thickness and adhesion. The third coat is the topcoat, which improves surface gloss and weather resistance. After each coat is applied, a surface inspection should be conducted to ensure there are no defects such as missed coating, sagging, or pinholes. Any issues found should be promptly repaired.
3. Key Parameters of the Painting Process
- Paint Film Thickness: The total thickness should reach 120-150μm, which can be detected using a wet film thickness gauge or dry film thickness gauge to ensure corrosion resistance standards are met.
- Environmental Conditions: Painting operations should be carried out in an environment with a temperature of 5-35℃ and humidity ≤85% to avoid paint film blistering due to high temperatures or slow drying due to low temperatures.
- Material Selection: It is recommended to use epoxy anti-rust paint, which has excellent salt spray resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use. For example, after spraying epoxy anti-rust paint on a hot-dip galvanized square tube frame, the wind resistance can reach Level 12, and the earthquake resistance can be above Level 7. It will not rust or deform under outdoor exposure to sun and rain, with a service life exceeding 10 years.
4. Acceptance Criteria After painting is completed, a comprehensive acceptance should be conducted, including:
- Paint film appearance: The surface should be smooth and even, with no color differences, sagging, or peeling.
- Adhesion test: Use the cross-cut method or pull-off method to detect that the adhesion between the paint film and the substrate meets the standard.
- Corrosion resistance: Verify through salt spray tests or artificial accelerated aging tests to ensure it meets the design life requirements.
By following these standardized operations, the corrosion resistance and service life of mobile toilets can be effectively improved, reducing later maintenance costs.
