Mobile Toilet - Non-flushing
The non-flushing type of mobile toilets is commonly known as waterless sanitary toilets or sewerless sanitary toilets, which are eco-friendly toilets that can handle waste without traditional water flushing.

Technical Principles and Classification
Non-flushing mobile toilets use physical, biological, or chemical technologies to replace the water-flushing function, enabling the collection and treatment of waste. Based on the waste treatment method, they are mainly classified into two types:
- Non-flushing suction-type mobile toilets: These use negative pressure suction devices to directly draw waste into sealed containers, preventing odor diffusion. These toilets require regular container cleaning and are suitable for short-term, high-traffic scenarios, such as large events or temporary construction sites.
- Dry-packing mobile toilets: These use biodegradable environmental bags to collect waste and rely on physical sealing technology to isolate odors. After use, simply replace the bag; no external water source or sewage pipeline is required, making them easy to operate and low-maintenance. They are commonly found in remote areas or places without infrastructure.
Materials and Suitable Scenarios
Non-flushing mobile toilets are made from various materials, including fiberglass, color-coated steel, composite panels, galvanized sheets, stainless steel, metals, and plastics. These materials are corrosion-resistant and lightweight, making them easy to transport. Selection can be based on the usage environment:
- Fiberglass and stainless steel: These have strong weather resistance and are suitable for long-term outdoor use, such as in tourist attractions or transportation hubs.
- Plastics and composite panels: These are cost-effective and facilitate rapid deployment, often used in temporary events or emergency scenarios. They are suitable for a wide range of locations, including stations, tourist attractions, construction sites, and disaster areas where there is no access to water and sewage systems. For example, during the May Day holiday in 2026, the Jinci Scenic Area in Shanxi Province deployed mobile male toilets converted from buses to cope with the surge in visitors. Some of these toilets used non-flushing designs, employing dry-packing or suction technologies to improve usage efficiency and reduce queuing times.
Environmental Advantages and Limitations
The core advantages of non-flushing mobile toilets lie in water conservation and environmental protection. Traditional water-flushing toilets consume 6-12 liters of water per use, whereas non-flushing toilets achieve zero water consumption, significantly reducing water resource pressure. Additionally, the waste from dry-packing toilets can be converted into organic fertilizer, enabling resource recycling. However, their limitations include the need for regular cleaning or replacement of collection containers; improper maintenance can lead to odor or pollution risks. Furthermore, the initial investment cost may be higher than that of ordinary mobile toilets, necessitating a comprehensive evaluation of usage scenarios and needs.
