High-Altitude Work for Mobile Toilets

Admin 01 de octubre de 2026

High-altitude work for mobile toilets must strictly adhere to safety regulations and operational requirements, focusing on three key aspects: safety protection, operational norms, and handling of special needs.

I. Safety Protection Measures

  1. Personal Protective Equipment: Workers entering the construction site must wear safety helmets correctly. For high-altitude work (2 meters or above), safety harnesses must be worn and should be hung high and used low, secured to a sturdy and reliable structure to prevent secondary injuries from falls.
  2. Specialized Work Management: Specialized workers such as electricians and welders must hold valid certificates to work. Unlicensed operation is strictly prohibited to ensure safety in high-risk areas such as electrical and welding work.
  3. Warning Signage Setup: The construction area must be equipped with clear safety warning signs, such as 'High-Altitude Work' and 'No Entry'. Workers must not arbitrarily remove or move these signs to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering hazardous areas.

II. Specific Operational Norms

  1. Scaffolding and Ladder Inspection: When installing mobile toilets involves high-altitude work such as wall hoisting and roof installation, the spacing between scaffolding crossbars (≤1.2 meters) and whether the scaffolding planks are fully laid and secured must be checked in advance to prevent stepping on air or slipping. When using ladders, supervision is required, and the angle between the ladder and the ground should be maintained at 60°-75° to ensure stability.
  2. Work Hours and Rest Arrangements: According to the 'Safety Regulations for High-Altitude Work' (GB 30871-2022), a rest period must be arranged after 4 consecutive hours of work to prevent operational errors caused by fatigue.

III. Handling of Special Needs
To address the toilet challenges faced by female high-altitude workers, the following solutions can be adopted:

  1. Portable Equipment: Provide portable toilets, urine bags, or adult diapers to meet temporary needs.
  2. Technological Improvements: Some new tower crane cabs have integrated mini-toilets. In major domestic projects, female tower crane operators are equipped with elevatable mobile toilet cabins that can be operated via remote control, balancing privacy and convenience.
  3. Temporary Facility Setup: Employers can be requested to set up temporary platforms with shelters at the work site and equip them with mobile toilets to improve the working environment.

High-altitude work carries high risks and requires comprehensive protection through standardized safety measures, strict operations, and humanized designs to ensure the safety and health of workers.
