Mobile Toilet as Fixed Asset

Admin 10 de octubre de 2026

The purchased mobile toilet can be classified as a fixed asset. Detailed analysis is as follows:

Compliance with the Definition of Fixed Assets in Tax Law

According to Article 57 of the 'Implementation Regulations of the Enterprise Income Tax Law of the People's Republic of China', fixed assets refer to non-monetary assets held by enterprises for the production of products, provision of labor services, leasing, or business management, with a usage period exceeding 12 months. This includes houses, buildings, machinery, mechanical equipment, transportation tools, and other equipment, appliances, and tools related to business operations. As a facility held by enterprises for business management, if the usage period of a mobile toilet may exceed 12 months, it meets the definition of a fixed asset.

Meeting the Recognition Criteria for Fixed Assets in Accounting Standards

According to Article 3 and Article 4 of the 'Accounting Standards for Business Enterprises No. 4 - Fixed Assets (2006 Edition)', fixed assets must meet two conditions simultaneously: first, they are held for the production of goods, provision of labor services, leasing, or business management; second, their service life exceeds one accounting year, and the economic benefits associated with the fixed asset are likely to flow into the enterprise, while the cost of the fixed asset can be reliably measured. If a mobile toilet meets these conditions, it can be recognized as a fixed asset.

Accounting Treatment Methods

In accounting treatment, although mobile toilets are movable, due to their service life typically exceeding one accounting year and being used for business management purposes, they should be included in fixed assets and generally depreciated according to the category of tools and furniture. Different industries classify mobile toilets as fixed assets differently. For example, some enterprises may record them under the 'special equipment' account, service-oriented enterprises may view them as 'mobile service facilities', and municipal departments may categorize them as 'public infrastructure' or 'sanitation equipment'. If the service life of a mobile toilet purchased by an enterprise exceeds one year and its unit value is relatively high (e.g., over 10,000 yuan), it should be classified as a house or building asset in accounting treatment.
