Size of Luxury Container Houses

Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026

The size of luxury container houses varies depending on design, purpose, and the way containers are combined, with common sizes ranging from approximately 18 square meters for a single container to hundreds of square meters for multiple containers joined together.

I. Sizes of Single-Container Houses

Single-container houses are usually converted from standard containers, with common sizes as follows:

  1. 20-foot Standard Container: The external dimensions are approximately 6.058 meters in length, 2.438 meters in width, and 2.591 meters in height. The internal dimensions are approximately 5.867 meters in length, 2.330 meters in width, and 2.350 meters in height, with an area of about 18 square meters. This size is suitable for single-person offices, dormitories, or small shops.

  2. 40-foot Standard Container: The external dimensions are approximately 12.192 meters in length, 2.438 meters in width, and 2.591 meters in height. The internal dimensions are approximately 11.998 meters in length, 2.330 meters in width, and 2.350 meters in height, with an area of about 36 square meters. This size is suitable for being divided into multi-functional spaces or dormitories for multiple people.

  3. 40-foot High-Cube Container: The external dimensions are approximately 12.192 meters in length, 2.438 meters in width, and 2.896 meters in height. The internal dimensions are approximately 11.998 meters in length, 2.330 meters in width, and 2.655 meters in height, with an area of about 36 square meters but with a higher ceiling height. This size is suitable for exhibition halls or residences that require a higher ceiling height.

II. Sizes of Houses Made by Joining Multiple Containers

Joining multiple containers can create larger spaces, for example:

  1. Giant Black Container Building: Made by joining 16 containers, it stands four stories high, with each container approximately 12 meters long, 2.4 meters wide, and 3 meters high. This design creates an impressive spatial scale through a crisscross combination.

  2. Carol's House in New York, USA: It uses 15 containers and has a house area of 464.5 square meters, featuring five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a study, and a home theater with a hanging TV, among other facilities.

  3. Container House in Stockholm, Sweden: Made by stacking eight containers, it accommodates a family of five, with a unique design and minimal environmental impact.
