Dimensions of Container Houses in Liwan District

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

There are no specific standards for the dimensions of container houses in Liwan District, with common sizes covering a variety of specifications and supporting customized designs. The following provides an explanation from four aspects: standardized containers, special-purpose containers, common non-standard sizes, and combined assemblies.

I. Standardized Container House Dimensions
The internal dimensions of internationally standardized containers fall into two categories:

  1. 20-foot Standard Container: Internal length of 5.9 meters, width of 2.35 meters, height of 2.393 meters, with a volume of approximately 33 cubic meters, suitable for single-person or small-scale living scenarios.
  2. 40-foot Standard Container: Internal length of 12.035 meters, width of 2.35 meters, height of 2.392 meters, with a volume of approximately 67 cubic meters, which can be transformed into larger spaces such as a two-bedroom, one-living-room layout.
In addition, the 20-foot container (length of 5.69 meters, width of 2.13 meters, height of 2.18 meters) and the 40-foot container (length of 11.8 meters, width of 2.13 meters, height of 2.18 meters) are commonly used specifications in the logistics field and can also be used for housing renovation, though their heights are slightly lower than those of standard containers.

II. Special-Purpose Container Dimensions

  1. High-Cube Types: The 40-foot high-cube container has an internal height of 2.72 meters, while the 45-foot high-cube container has an internal length of 13.58 meters, width of 2.34 meters, and height of 2.71 meters, suitable for scenarios requiring increased ceiling height or vertical space, such as loft-style houses.
  2. Refrigerated Containers: Sizes include lengths of 5.425 meters, widths of 2.275 meters, heights of 2.260 meters, etc. With excellent thermal insulation performance, they can be transformed into cold storage or constant-temperature laboratories, but require additional treatment for the insulation layer and refrigeration equipment.

III. Common Non-Standardized Sizes
To meet different needs, the market offers a variety of simplified container houses:

  • 3m × 3m × 2.8m: A small single room suitable for temporary offices or construction site dormitories.
  • 6m × 3m × 2.8m: A standard one-bedroom unit that can be equipped with an independent bathroom and a simple kitchen.
  • 7m × 3m × 2.8m: By extending the length to increase usable area, suitable for family living.
These sizes typically adopt a modular design for easy transportation and rapid assembly.

IV. Combined Assembly Dimensions
By horizontally or vertically combining multiple containers, space expansion can be achieved:

  • Horizontal Combination: Two 40-foot containers placed side by side increase the width from 2.35 meters to 4.7 meters, creating an open public area.
  • Vertical Combination: Three 40-foot containers connected in series result in a length of 11.8 meters × 3 = 35.4 meters, suitable for large event venues or commercial districts.
  • Three-Dimensional Combination: For example, combining three 40-foot containers results in dimensions of 11.8 meters × 6.75 meters × 2.8 meters, achieving a double-story structure through stacking to increase usable area.

V. Customized Design
If existing sizes cannot meet the requirements, dimensions can be customized according to site conditions and functional planning, such as adjusting the width to 2.5 meters or the height to 3 meters. However, transportation limitations (such as road width and bridge height) and structural safety must be considered.
