Living in Container Houses While Working Away from Home
The situation of living in container houses while working away from home varies across different regions at home and abroad, but generally involves limited living conditions and rudimentary facilities.

Domestic Situation:
Some construction sites in China use discarded containers to be transformed into temporary dormitories, primarily for rent by migrant workers. For example, such dormitories once appeared at a construction site on the east side of Zhongzhou Avenue in Zhengzhou. Each container has an internal area of about 18 square meters, equipped with basic facilities such as bunk beds and air conditioners, with a daily rent of 6 yuan. Tenants need to resolve water and electricity issues on their own. These dormitories are widely distributed in Zhengzhou, Luoyang, Kaifeng, and other places in Henan Province, with over 600 such containers in construction sites in Zhengzhou alone. However, due to the failure of container rooms to meet the 30-square-meter standard required for special industries, they cannot obtain formal hotel qualifications. Additionally, the living environment is damp and cold in winter, and the containers lack openable windows and shower facilities, violating the provisions of the "Environmental and Health Standards for Construction Sites." The living conditions have long been without effective supervision.
Overseas Situation:
In Abu Dhabi and Dubai, UAE, Pakistani construction workers generally live in eight-person container dormitories. Taking Abu Dhabi as an example, the dormitories have bunk bed structures with aisles only about sixty centimeters wide, equipped with only a wobbly ceiling fan and no air conditioning. The windows are iron sheets with holes covered by mesh, with some damaged areas patched with tape. In summer, the indoor temperature can exceed 50 degrees Celsius, forcing workers to seek refuge outdoors, where they face issues with mosquitoes and sandstorms. Pakistani construction workers in Dubai earn about 2,000 yuan per month, while the monthly rent for an eight-person dormitory is about 1,200 yuan, accounting for a relatively high proportion of their income.
Overview of Container Houses:
Container houses are habitable or office buildings transformed from containers as basic structural modules, characterized by durability, easy construction, environmental friendliness, flexibility, and low cost. They are commonly used as worker dormitories at construction sites and can also be rented out as housing. They are widely applied in temporary housing, creative spaces, post-disaster emergency buildings, and other fields. However, their living conditions are generally limited by the original structure, with rudimentary facilities and a lack of effective supervision, necessitating further improvements to safeguard the rights and interests of residents.
