Jiayuguan Water-Saving Mobile Toilet
The Jiayuguan water-saving mobile toilet is an environmentally friendly facility designed based on the concept of efficient water resource utilization, achieving the comprehensive goals of water conservation, resource recycling, and low maintenance costs through technological innovation.

Water-Saving Technology: Vacuum Negative Pressure Flushing System
The core water-saving technology of this toilet is vacuum negative pressure flushing. Its principle involves creating a negative pressure zone instantly beneath the toilet bowl, using air as a carrier to suction waste into a closed pipeline instead of relying on water flushing. Each flush consumes less than 1 liter of water, only 1/6 of that of conventional water-flush toilets (about 6 liters per flush), significantly reducing water consumption. This technology is particularly suitable for Jiayuguan's natural conditions of low annual precipitation and limited groundwater resources, effectively alleviating the high operating costs and poor sustainability issues associated with traditional toilets due to their high water consumption.
Waste Treatment: Resource Recycling and Safe Discharge
The mobile toilet is equipped with an integrated treatment system, including solid-liquid separation and biological degradation units:
- Solid Treatment: The solid portion of the waste is dehydrated to form residue, significantly reducing its volume for easier subsequent transportation and disposal.
- Liquid Treatment: The liquid portion undergoes multi-stage filtration and oxidation treatment to meet standards for non-contact irrigation or safe discharge, enabling small-scale water resource recycling within the scenic area and reducing reliance on external water sources.
Materials and Structure: Adapting to Extreme Environments
The toilet body is molded in one piece using fiberglass-reinforced plastic or high-strength composite materials, offering three major advantages:
- Lightweight and Corrosion-Resistant: Reducing transportation and installation difficulties while extending equipment lifespan.
- Thermal Insulation: Maintaining the operational efficiency of internal treatment equipment in low-temperature environments, minimizing the risk of biological agent inactivation or pipeline freezing in winter.
- Structural Stability: Adapting to Jiayuguan's climate conditions of large diurnal temperature variations and frequent sandstorms, ensuring long-term stable operation.
Maintenance Management: Dynamic Adjustment to Ensure Efficiency
Daily maintenance includes operations such as replenishing biological degradation agents, checking vacuum pump pressure, cleaning separator filters, and transporting out solidified residue. Maintenance frequency needs to be dynamically adjusted based on tourist volume in the scenic area:
- Peak Season: Increase the frequency of biological agent replenishment and filter cleaning to prevent treatment system overload.
- Off-Season: Reduce operational frequency to lower labor and material costs while maintaining basic equipment operation.
This design achieves a balance between water conservation, environmental protection, and cost-effectiveness through technological integration and management optimization, providing a replicable solution for public toilet construction in arid regions.
