Mobile Toilets on Huashan Peak

Admin 21 de septiembre de 2026

The mobile toilets on Huashan Peak mainly include waterless biogas toilets and temporary toilets.

Through the 'Toilet Revolution', the Huashan Scenic Area has constructed 33 standardized toilets, among which 11 are waterless biogas (smart) toilets specifically designed for cold and water-scarce environments, which can be regarded as a form of mobile toilets. These toilets do not require a water source and use biotechnology to decompose waste, making them suitable for the cold and water-scarce natural environment of Huashan. They have formed a '5-minute toilet access circle', providing relatively convenient toilet facilities for tourists. They are distributed throughout Huashan and are the mainstay of toilets on the mountain.

However, during peak tourist seasons, such as National Day holidays, due to a surge in tourist numbers, some toilets may face issues of untimely cleaning, resulting in dirtiness, lack of water, or even closure. In particular, some high-altitude toilets use waterless flushing technology, and tourists need to follow the instructions to avoid blockages caused by improper use.

In areas with a sudden influx of tourists, such as sunrise viewing points, Huashan sets up temporary toilets. These temporary toilets usually have relatively simple conditions and are mainly intended to meet the toilet needs during peak periods. For example, near the 'Sunlight Rock' sunrise viewing platform on the East Peak (Chaoyang Peak), there are very few formal restrooms, mostly simple temporary toilets. During the sunrise viewing period on the East Peak, restroom resources are extremely scarce, almost entirely relying on temporary toilets. The nearest formal restroom may require tourists to walk for about an hour, causing great inconvenience to tourists.

Usage Suggestions: When visiting Huashan to watch the sunrise or for sightseeing, tourists should learn about the distribution of toilets in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons, and arrange their toilet visits reasonably to avoid affecting their sightseeing experience due to scarce toilet resources during peak periods. At the same time, when using waterless biogas toilets, tourists should carefully read the instructions and use them correctly to avoid blockages.
