Huanggang Container House Construction

Admin 16 de septiembre de 2026

The construction of container houses in Huanggang requires comprehensive consideration of multiple factors, including design, material selection, construction, and post-construction maintenance.

I. Design Planning
The design of container houses should integrate functional requirements with spatial layout. For example, using 2-3 containers for splicing or staggered stacking can expand functional areas such as living rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Enhancing natural lighting can be achieved by installing large floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights on the roof. To improve thermal insulation, internal insulation layers can be added to walls and roofs, and triple-glazed windows can be selected. Additionally, the exterior facade can be personalized by applying paint, thematic murals, or glass curtain walls to shed the industrial look.

II. Materials and Structure
The core of container houses is the steel structural frame, with a focus on load-bearing capacity and structural safety. Key indicators include the thickness of steel for main beams and columns, the fullness of welding processes, and anti-corrosion treatments for the container body (such as galvanizing or spraying). For instance, standard container frames are welded from profiled steel, offering significantly higher load-bearing capacity than ordinary mobile homes, with a service life of over 15 years. Moreover, modular design enables factory prefabrication and rapid on-site assembly, significantly shortening construction periods and reducing labor costs.

III. Construction and Approval
Before construction, it is essential to clarify land use: rural homesteads require construction approval with structural drawings; farmland and basic farmland are strictly prohibited from construction; leased land is limited to temporary use. Container houses, classified as steel structures, must comply with local building codes to avoid being identified as illegal constructions. For example, Huanggang Science and Technology City adopted a modular container solution, completing the construction of 26 units in 4 months, balancing efficiency and compliance.

IV. Post-construction Maintenance
The steel structure requires regular anti-rust treatment: during construction, cut edges should be polished and coated with epoxy primer and topcoat; annual inspections of welds and corners prone to rust are necessary; anti-corrosion coatings should be reapplied every 8-12 years in inland areas, 7-10 years in humid southern regions, and 3-5 years in coastal areas. Additionally, window and door sealants should be replaced every 5-7 years to prevent water leakage, and the container base should be elevated to protect against moisture.
