How to Make Container Houses

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

There are three main methods for making container houses: traditional container modification, traditional material construction, and screw pile foundation construction. The specific production processes are as follows:

Traditional Container Modification

  • Material Processing: Select processed containers and add more crossbeams inside to enhance structural stability. According to design requirements, cut off the bottom and one side to facilitate subsequent lifting, transportation, and house construction.
  • House Construction: The house usually consists of two floors. The first floor is formed by connecting two containers, with horizontal steel beams added at the bottom of the containers as load-bearing beams and supports to ensure the stability of the house structure. The top is bonded and reinforced with super-strong adhesive for the gaps in the middle, requiring three layers of adhesive to prevent rain leakage. Manufacturers will pre-make the positions of windows and doors, and stack them like building blocks during installation. The production cycle is relatively short, taking as little as three to five days or as long as a week.
  • Thermal Insulation Treatment: Since container houses can be cold in winter, 10cm-thick polyurethane insulation boards need to be added to the exterior walls. This material not only has good thermal insulation properties but also has fire-resistant properties. Fire-resistant raw materials are added during manufacturing to effectively prevent fires.

Traditional Material Construction

  • Floor Construction: Nail two chair-like structures made of poly-ink boards onto the baseboard to form a wooden frame. Lay glass fiber as baseboard insulation to enhance the insulation performance of the floor. Cover with a rough floor, apply tile adhesive with anti-freeze and anti-mold functions, and finally lay Z-based flooring or other types of flooring or tiles.
  • Wall Construction: Nail vertical rods every 40 centimeters on the prepared sol plates, use horizontal rods to reserve window spaces, and then use a large number of steel nails to strengthen the structural strength. Spray adhesive to bond the plywood to the underside of the wall structure, and nail in steel nails to make it firm. After making the walls, stand them on the baseboard and fix them with adhesive and steel nails.
  • Ceiling Installation: Adopt a layered construction method. First, lay a ceiling made of fiberboard, cover it with a layer of plastic film barrier, install ceiling drag beams with inclined edges for drainage and to reserve wire holes, and frame the ceiling structure with pier boards and lay wires.
  • Internal Equipment: Install glass fiber wool between the vertical rods to form a sound-insulating and insulating layer, lay plastic film as a barrier, and install smooth wooden boards as wall panels.

Screw Pile Foundation Construction

  • Foundation Construction: Instead of using traditional concrete foundations, special machines are used to screw steel piles into the ground, measuring pressure and torque in real-time to verify the stability of each pile. The steel piles are directly driven 2 meters into the soil layer, and each pile can support about 5 tons of weight. The house is built by placing multiple containers side by side on the pile foundation. Screw piles do not require concrete, consume less energy during installation, are reversible, and the pile foundation can be unscrewed during demolition, with the land almost restored to its original state.
  • Container Processing: Weld the containers together to form a unified overall structure, establishing the basic volume and stable framework of the house. The welded plates are treated with anti-rust paint for rust prevention, and the edge joints are carefully sealed with nitrile rubber-based aluminum foil tape to prevent corrosion and provide an additional barrier.
