How to Make Windows for Container Houses
Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026
The production of windows for container houses should follow standardized procedures to ensure structural safety and functional integrity. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Selecting the Window Location
Comprehensive consideration should be given to the house's purpose, internal layout, and structural characteristics:
- Functional Requirements: Determine the location based on lighting and ventilation needs. For example, bedroom windows should be placed on the south side to obtain sufficient sunlight, while kitchen or bathroom windows should be close to ventilation paths.
- Structural Safety: Avoid key structural parts of the container, such as load-bearing beams and corner fittings, to prevent a reduction in the container's strength due to cutting. In conventional modifications, windows are often placed in the middle area of the side wall, about 0.9 meters above the ground for daily use.
- Aesthetics: Symmetrical layouts can enhance visual harmony. For example, two rectangular windows measuring 0.6×0.8 meters can be symmetrically placed on both sides, with a window spacing of 0.5 meters to ensure load-bearing capacity.
2. Marking and Cutting
- Marking and Positioning: Use a ruler and marker to accurately mark the window outline on the container's side wall. The dimensions should be planned in advance (e.g., 0.6×0.8 meters), and space should be reserved for window frame installation.
- Cutting Operation:
- First, drill holes at the marked corner points as starting points for cutting.
- Slowly cut along the outline using an angle grinder or plasma cutter, keeping the edges flat and avoiding burrs.
- After cutting, clean up metal debris to prevent scratches or rust.
3. Installing the Window Frame and Windows
- Window Frame Fixing: Insert the prefabricated window frame (e.g., aluminum alloy or steel) into the cut hole and fix it to the container's side wall using a screwdriver or electric drill with self-tapping screws, ensuring a tight fit between the frame and the container.
- Glass Installation: Insert double-glazed glass (to improve thermal and sound insulation) into the window frame and fill the gaps with sealing strips to prevent wind and rain from entering. If ventilation is required, install operable window sashes.
4. Reinforcement and Inspection
- Structural Reinforcement: Weld a reinforcement frame (e.g., angle steel or square tube) at the cutting site to enhance the local strength of the container and prevent deformation.
- Safety Inspection: After opening the windows, check the overall structural stability to ensure there are no cracks, looseness, or load-bearing issues. Conduct a load test if necessary.
Precautions:
- Wear safety goggles, earplugs, and a dust mask during operation to reduce the hazards of noise, vibration, and metal dust.
- For new container models, modular pre-cutting services can be selected, where the manufacturer directly provides precise cutouts and waterproof strips to simplify the construction process.
- Ventilation openings can be retained on the roof or exhaust fans can be installed to create air convection with the windows and improve indoor air quality.
