How to Make a Mobile Toilet

Admin 23 de septiembre de 2026

You can refer to the following two methods for making a mobile toilet:

I. Making a Mobile Toilet Using a Water Storage Barrel

  1. Basic Structure Construction

    • Select a household water storage barrel and use an angle grinder to split it in half lengthwise to serve as the main space of the toilet.
    • Install universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board to form a mobile base, ensuring the overall structure is stable and easy to move.
    • Take several wooden strips and fix them to the upper edge of the barrel with self-tapping screws to form a wall frame, increasing the interior height to accommodate human activities.
  2. Functional Module Installation

    • Door and Wall: Use an angle grinder to cut a doorway on the side of the water storage barrel. Install sponge strips on both sides of the doorway to form a door frame, preventing air or odor leakage from the gaps. Insert plastic soft boards between the wooden strips to form an elevated wall, enhancing privacy. Use foam strips to拼接 (assemble) discarded honeycomb wooden boards to make a simple door and fix it to the door frame with hinges.
    • Roof and Waterproofing: Invert the upper half of the water storage barrel onto the top of the wooden strips to serve as the roof. Paint the wooden strips with white waterproof paint to improve aesthetics and prevent moisture damage after long-term use.
    • Drainage System: Cut a hole at the bottom of the barrel and install a drain pipe to form a floor drain, connecting it to an external sewage barrel. Drill holes on the side and bottom of a plastic barrel, install direct connectors, and place the plastic barrel on the roof as a small water storage device for collecting rainwater or storing flushing water.
  3. Sanitary Facility Configuration

    • Place the toilet bowl on the drain pipe hole, install a water tank, and fix it with glass glue to ensure a tight seal. Connect the drain pipe to the sewage barrel to form a closed sewage system.
    • Install a three-way connector below the water inlet pipe, with one end connected to a showerhead (if a shower function is required) and the other end extending horizontally to the doorway as the water inlet pipe for a sink, enabling multi-level utilization of water resources.

II. Solar-Powered Mobile Toilet (Brief Introduction) This type of toilet usually takes a water storage barrel as the base and integrates solar panels, batteries, and other equipment to supply power for lighting, ventilation, or small appliances. For example, install solar panels on the roof and connect them to batteries to store electrical energy, providing interior lighting for the toilet at night. Or use solar energy to drive a small exhaust fan to improve interior air quality. However, the specific production process requires knowledge of circuit design, equipment selection, and other professional areas, so further reference to detailed materials or consultation with professionals is necessary.

Supplementary Information Mobile toilets can also be classified as follows: According to structural form, they are divided into single-unit structures (independent units) and composite structures (combinations of multiple functional modules). According to mobility, they are divided into lifting/handling types (requiring mechanical assistance) and powered/trailer types (with their own power or towable by vehicles). According to sewage treatment methods, they are divided into water-flush types, waterless-flush suction types (relying on vacuum pumps), and circulating water-flush types (reusing water resources through a filtration system). When making a mobile toilet, you can choose the appropriate type based on actual needs (such as usage scenarios, budget, and environmental protection requirements).
