How to Install Lights on a Container House Roof

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

When installing lights on the roof of a container house, you can choose an appropriate method based on the roof material and your needs. Here are some common methods and their key operating points:

Trenching for Linear Light Installation on Concrete Roofs

If the roof is made of concrete and trenching is allowed, you can refer to the method of trenching for linear light installation. First, create a trench about 1 centimeter wide on the roof. The depth of the trench should be uniform to avoid damaging the roof structure. Next, insert the light strip into the trench, ensuring it is flat and wrinkle-free. After that, perform tasks such as applying plaster and putty to restore the roof's flat and aesthetically pleasing appearance. This method results in a high degree of integration between the light fixture and the roof after installation. However, the trenching process generates a certain amount of dust and can be somewhat destructive to the roof, so it is necessary to confirm in advance whether trenching is allowed on the roof.

Open-Wire Roof Light Fixture Fixing Methods

  • Expansion Screw Fixing Method: This method is suitable for concrete roofs. First, use an electric drill to create holes at the marked positions. The hole diameter should be 6mm, and the depth should be 5mm longer than the expansion tube. Knock the expansion tube into the hole until it is flush with the roof surface. Align the base plate of the light fixture with the expansion screw and tighten it with a nut. To ensure safety, it is recommended to hang an item weighing twice that of the light fixture for a load-bearing test to prevent the fixture from falling.
  • Suction Cup Fixing Method: This method is suitable for smooth surfaces, such as the smooth materials that may be present on container house roofs. Thoroughly clean the installation area with alcohol to ensure there is no dust, oil, or other impurities. Press the exhaust valve at the center of the suction cup to make the suction cup fully adhere to the roof surface. For added safety, you can use a safety rope to secure the light fixture to the roof beam. Since the vacuum degree of the suction cup may decrease over time, it is necessary to check the vacuum degree of the suction cup every six months.
  • Hanging Wire Fixing Method: This method can be used when you need to lower the height of the light fixture. Choose a flame-retardant braided wire with a length of 30 - 50cm. Install a lifting ring with a load-bearing capacity of over 10kg on the roof beam. Replace the fixed light fixture base with a hanging installation-specific interface and control the hanging height of the light fixture using a knot or a regulator.

Precautions: The above methods are for reference only, and actual operations should be adjusted according to specific circumstances. Before performing any electrical installation work, be sure to turn off the power supply and follow local building codes and safety standards. If you are unsure how to proceed or are concerned about safety issues, it is advisable to consult a professional electrician or decoration company.
