How to Install Ground Nails for Mobile Toilets

Admin 09 de octubre de 2026

Refer to the following steps and methods for installing ground nails for mobile toilets to ensure stable and safe installation:

I. Ground Anchor Fixation Method

At the four corners or key load-bearing positions of the mobile toilet, the ground anchor fixation method should be used to enhance stability. During specific operations, expansion screws or ground anchor nails can be used to connect the fixing chains (straps) to the ground. If site conditions permit, concrete blocks or counterweight blocks can be driven into the bottom of the toilet to further increase its wind resistance. The insertion depth of the ground anchors should exceed 30 centimeters to ensure sufficient pull-out resistance and prevent loosening or displacement due to external forces.

II. Selecting the Appropriate Tools

Selecting tools suitable for the ground material is crucial:

  • Soft ground: Prioritize using a hammer (with a flat head and a long handle), as its stable and controllable force is suitable for driving ground nails vertically or obliquely into the soil. A manual drill can also be used to pre-drill holes, although this is less efficient.
  • Hard ground (such as asphalt or stone slabs): A regular hammer with a harder head or a ground nail driver (specifically designed for hard ground, allowing stable driving and aiding in extraction) should be used.
  • Reinforced concrete ground: An electric drill must be used. Select the appropriate drill bit based on the size of the ground nail, and the drilling depth should be slightly greater than the length of the ground nail to avoid fixation failure due to mismatched hole diameters.

III. Correct Ground Nail Installation Method

The insertion angle and direction of the ground nails directly affect the fixation effect:

  • Angle: Ground nails should be inserted into the ground at an oblique angle of 45 degrees. This angle maximizes the use of soil friction to enhance pull-out resistance.
  • Direction: The orientation of the ground nails should be opposite to the wind ropes. For example, if the wind rope is pulled tight to the right, the ground nail should be inserted obliquely downward to the left. This way, in windy weather, the wind force will compact the contact surface between the ground nail and the ground rather than directly pulling out the ground nail.
  • Depth control: In addition to ground anchors requiring a depth of over 30 centimeters, the insertion depth of regular ground nails should be at least two-thirds of the nail's length to ensure sufficient grip after the fixing chains (straps) are tightened.

IV. Precautions

  • Clear ground debris before installation to prevent stones or tree roots from obstructing the insertion of ground nails.
  • If the ground is frozen soil or sandy soil, increase the number of ground nails or use longer ground anchors (such as spiral ground anchors) to compensate for insufficient soil adhesion.
  • Regularly check the stability of the ground nails, especially after windy or rainy weather, and promptly reinforce any loose parts.
