How to Handle Thermal Insulation for Container Houses

Admin 17 de septiembre de 2026

Thermal insulation for container houses can be effectively achieved through selecting appropriate materials, adding insulation layers, optimizing window and door designs, focusing on detail handling, and using other auxiliary methods.

Select Appropriate Thermal Insulation Materials

Common thermal insulation materials include polystyrene boards, polyurethane foam boards, and rock wool boards. These materials have low thermal conductivity and can effectively block heat transfer. For example, polystyrene boards are relatively inexpensive and easy to install, polyurethane foam boards offer excellent thermal insulation performance, and rock wool boards not only provide good thermal insulation but also have certain fire-resistant properties. Selection can be based on the usage requirements and budget of the container house.

Add Thermal Insulation Layers

  • Exterior Wall Treatment: During the design of container houses, thermal insulation layers can be added to the exterior wall surfaces or internal walls, such as external hanging insulation layers or internal thermal insulation boards, to form a thermal insulation barrier, reduce heat transfer, and maintain stable indoor temperatures. External thermal insulation treatment is usually carried out after the overall assembly work is completed. Based on the internal thermal insulation treatment of the container body, the effect can be consolidated by applying thermal insulation coatings on the exterior surface, and the application thickness on the top and side surfaces of the container can be increased.
  • Additional Components: Thermal insulation treatment through additional components mainly focuses on the roof and side surfaces. In regions with hot climates and high rainfall, container buildings can solve rainwater issues and achieve shading, ventilation, and thermal insulation through additional roof structures. Additional components can be classified into four main structural types: canopy-supported, direct covering, short-column-supported panel, and external independent types. Additionally, increasing the thickness of foam during the construction of container houses can also provide good thermal insulation, and rock wool also has certain thermal insulation effects.

Optimize Window and Door Designs

  • Glass Selection: When selecting windows and doors, use double- or triple-glazed windows, which have low thermal conductivity and good thermal insulation performance, effectively reducing heat exchange between the indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Sealing Treatment: Install sealing strips around the edges of windows and doors to effectively reduce heat leakage and improve thermal insulation performance. Choose high-quality, elastic sealing strips to ensure long-lasting sealing effects.

Pay Attention to Detail Handling in the Thermal Insulation System

Use appropriate sealing materials at the joints and connections of thermal insulation materials to prevent heat leakage. Professional construction methods and materials should be used at the junctions between the thermal insulation layer and the container structure to ensure sealing and structural stability, avoiding heat loss due to loose connections.

Other Methods

Drill holes at the top, install a frame, and then install thermal insulation boards, which can provide 80% thermal insulation. This method is simple and effective, suitable for container houses with high thermal insulation requirements.
