Housing Container Repair Methods

Admin 15 de septiembre de 2026

Container house repairs should be carried out according to the type of damage, with common repair methods including structural reinforcement, leak repair, anti-corrosion and fire prevention repair, and component replacement.

1. Structural Reinforcement Repair

If the container house experiences structural looseness or insufficient load-bearing capacity, reinforcement methods can be employed to enhance stability. For example, reserve holes can be made in the web plates of the top and bottom beams, and the beam components of the upper and lower container layers can be fixed using rectangular steel plates and connectors, enabling the upper bottom beam and lower top beam to work together and enhance the load-bearing capacity of the beam components. For multi-story container houses, it is necessary to ensure that the corner fittings and corner columns are aligned and locked vertically to avoid failure in vertical load transfer. If openings weaken structural stiffness, a staggered and symmetrical arrangement of non-perforated and perforated containers should be adopted to reduce the risk of stress concentration.

2. Leak Repair

Leaks in container houses are often caused by loose fasteners, aging waterproof materials, or construction defects. Repairs should include:

  • Inspecting fasteners: Tighten loose components caused by roof trampling and replace aging waterproof gaskets;
  • Redoing the waterproof layer: Remove unqualified or aging waterproof materials and reapply waterproof coatings or lay waterproof membranes, ensuring tight sealing at joints;
  • Treating the perimeter of openings: Reinforce waterproofing around cracks at openings for fans, exhaust pipes, etc., using flexible sealing materials for filling;
  • Optimizing gutter design: Adjust the gutter slope to ≥1% and clear debris from outlets to prevent water backup and flooding.

3. Anti-Corrosion and Fire Prevention Repair

  • Anti-corrosion treatment: Remove rusted areas and apply anti-rust paint or hot-dip galvanizing to extend the service life of steel structures;
  • Fire prevention upgrade: In crowded venues, replace flammable core materials (such as EPS) with Class A rock wool or glass wool to increase the fire resistance limit to ≥0.5 hours;
  • Coating protection: Regularly reapply fire-resistant coatings to maintain stable fire performance.

4. Component Replacement and Repair

  • Replacing damaged components: Cut and replace severely deformed wall panels, roof panels, or corner fittings to ensure structural integrity;
  • Repairing deformed panels: For panel deformation caused by thermal expansion and contraction, use mechanical straightening or local reinforcement to restore flatness.
