Relocation of Plugs in House Toilets

Admin 09 de octubre de 2026

The plugs in house toilets can be relocated, but caution must be exercised and relevant regulations and precautions followed.

Firstly, the power must be turned off before relocation. This is a fundamental prerequisite for ensuring operational safety, avoiding circuit modifications while the power is on, and preventing electric shock accidents. After turning off the power, a voltage tester can be used to confirm that the circuit is de-energized, ensuring a safe operating environment.

Secondly, it is necessary to ensure that the voltage of the circuit at the new location matches that of the original location. Different electrical appliances have varying voltage requirements. If the voltage of the circuit at the new location does not match that of the original appliance, it may lead to circuit overload, causing short circuits, fires, and other hazards. Therefore, before relocation, it is essential to verify the voltage parameters of the circuit at the new location to ensure they align with the appliance's requirements.

There are two primary methods for relocating sockets:

  1. Replacing the socket box and panel:

    • Use a screwdriver to remove the old socket box and panel, taking care to protect the existing wiring from damage.
    • Install a new socket box and panel according to the requirements of the new location, connecting the wires to the corresponding terminals in the new socket box and securing them tightly.
    • Finally, install the plug socket on the new panel to complete the relocation.
  2. Extending the wiring and then installing the socket:

    • Unplug the socket at the old location, remove the socket box, extract the wires, and secure them with insulating tape to prevent exposure.
    • Pull the wires along the wall corner to the new location, ensuring that the length of the pulled wire is not less than that of the original wire to avoid breakage due to excessive tension.
    • Upon reaching the new location, measure the wire length with a ruler, adjust it to the appropriate size, and install the new socket box and panel.
    • Connect the wires to the terminals and secure them tightly, then plug in the plug on the new panel to complete the extended installation.

If relocating a socket in the bathroom, additional consideration must be given to waterproofing:

  • First, remove the waterproof box, determine the new location, and use a marker to outline the area of the tiles that need to be cut.
  • Insert the wires into the wall and use a cutting machine to process the outlined tiles, ensuring that the new location meets waterproofing requirements.
  • When installing the new socket box and panel, ensure that the waterproof box is sealed properly to prevent water infiltration and short circuits.

Exercise caution during operation, avoiding pulling on wires or plugs, and ensuring that all connections are secure and reliable. If you are unfamiliar with circuit operations, it is advisable to contact a professional electrician to ensure safety and compliance.
