Production of Home Portable Toilets

Admin 23 de septiembre de 2026

Home portable toilets can be made using water storage barrels or discarded tiles. Here are the specific methods:

Production Using Water Storage Barrels

1. Basic Structure Construction

  • Barrel Modification: Use an angle grinder to split the water storage barrel vertically in the middle, creating two separate halves. Choose a corrosion-resistant plastic barrel (such as PE material) and ensure the barrel wall thickness is ≥5mm to support structural stability.
  • Installation of Mobile Device: Fix universal wheels (with a load capacity of ≥50kg) at the four corners of a wooden board. The size of the wooden board should be slightly larger than the diameter of the barrel bottom to provide stable support.
  • Height and Wall Construction: Use self-tapping screws to fix wooden strips (about 30cm in height) to the upper edge of the barrel, forming a frame. Cut an opening on the side (about 50cm×60cm in size), install sponge strips as door frame buffers, embed plastic soft boards (thickness ≥2mm) as walls, and cover the top with the upper half of the barrel as a roof.
  • Waterproofing Treatment: Apply white waterproof paint (such as polyurethane coating) to the surface of the wooden strips to prevent decay caused by a humid environment.

2. Installation of Indoor Devices

  • Drainage System: Drill holes at the bottom of the barrel to install a 50mm diameter drain pipe (with an anti-odor floor drain). Drill holes on the side to connect direct joints (for connecting the sewage pipe); drill another hole at the bottom to install a three-way joint, connecting the toilet sewage pipe and the washbasin water inlet pipe respectively.
  • Water Storage and Bathing Devices: Place a plastic barrel (capacity ≥20L) on the roof as a water storage device and connect it to a simple bathroom heater through a water pipe (a waterproof switch needs to be installed); install a three-way joint below the water inlet pipe to branch out the shower water supply pipe (a water-saving valve needs to be installed).
  • Toilet Fixation: Place a finished toilet (such as a portable plastic toilet) on the drain pipe opening, and seal and fix the water tank with glass glue; extend the sewage pipe to an external sewage barrel (which needs to be cleaned regularly).
  • Integration of Washbasin: Connect the three-way joint of the outlet pipe horizontally to the water pipe leading to the door. Install a faucet joint at one end and connect a hose at the other end; drill a hole (30mm in diameter) on the door to install the joint and equip it with a foldable washbasin (to save space).

Production of a Portable Toilet Using Discarded Tiles

1. Base Production

  • Tile Cutting: Place the toilet flat on the tile, draw a line along the edge, and then use an angle grinder to cut out a rectangular tile block that is 5cm larger than the bottom of the toilet (thickness ≥8mm); wear goggles during cutting to prevent tile debris from flying.
  • Installation of Universal Wheels: Turn the tile over and mark the positions of the four corners. Use an electric drill to drill screw holes (with a diameter matching the screw rod); after fixing the universal wheels (with brake function), use an angle grinder to flatten the protruding screw rods on the back to avoid scratching the ground.

2. Toilet Installation

  • Pre-embedding of Sewage Pipe: Draw a line on the tile along the position of the toilet's bottom sewage outlet, thread a hose (with an inner diameter of 40mm) from the back and fix one end, ensuring the hose length is sufficient to connect to the drain pipe.
  • Fixation of Toilet: Apply white cement (which must be waterproof) at the marked lines on the tile, and press and fix the toilet for more than 24 hours to ensure firm adhesion.
  • Installation of Water Tank and Accessories: Install a water tank (with a flush button) and lock it tightly with plastic fasteners, connect the water inlet pipe (a one-way valve needs to be installed to prevent backflow); after installing the toilet lid, insert the sewage hose into the bathroom drain pipe (use a sealing ring at the joint to prevent leakage).

Precautions: Both schemes require regular cleaning of the sewage barrel or drain pipe to avoid blockage; the water storage barrel scheme requires ensuring the tightness of the water storage barrel on the roof to prevent water leakage.
