Hangzhou Public Mobile Toilet Design
The design of public mobile toilets in Hangzhou embodies a profound integration of technological sophistication and human-centric considerations, featuring three distinct types: 5G smart toilets, mobile landscape public toilets, and mobile bus public toilets, each with unique characteristics and comprehensive functionalities.

5G Smart Toilets represent a paradigm of technological and humanistic fusion. Their design breaks away from traditional norms, utilizing glass materials to create a two-story structure reminiscent of a café or tea bar, combining modernity with transparency. An escalator at the entrance facilitates access for wheelchair users, embodying the principle of barrier-free design. The interior facilities cater to both daily needs and emergency scenarios, equipped with basic amenities such as vending machines for beverages, sinks, mirrors, and hand dryers, while also offering convenient services like free mobile phone charging ports and first-aid kits. For parents with infants, cribs are provided to address caregiving challenges during toilet use. Automatic sensors for hand sanitizer and faucets minimize contact contamination, enhancing hygiene levels. In terms of privacy protection, the glass walls automatically frost upon detecting human activity, striking a balance between spatial openness and privacy needs.
Mobile Landscape Public Toilets prioritize flexibility and eco-friendliness as their core advantages. As Hangzhou's first movable public toilet, it adopts a factory-prefabricated model, where the entire structure is manufactured in a factory and then transported to the site for hoisting and installation, requiring only the connection of water and electricity pipelines for operation. This design significantly shortens the construction period and supports subsequent site adjustments, effectively reducing resource waste during urban renewal. In terms of functional configuration, in addition to conventional urinals, squat toilets, and sinks, it introduces an intelligent management system: music automatically plays when the door is closed to create a comfortable environment, and the flushing mechanism and deodorization and sterilization functions are triggered when the door is opened, minimizing odor retention. Its modular structure enables rapid response to temporary events or emergencies, serving as a vital supplement to urban emergency services.
Mobile Bus Public Toilets are specifically designed for large-scale event scenarios, highlighting functional integration and care for special groups. Their exterior mimics that of an ordinary bus, while the interior is divided into five independent toilets and one dedicated toilet for special populations, featuring an electric wheelchair lift for barrier-free access. The air conditioning system maintains optimal temperature and humidity, USB charging ports cater to electronic device usage, and handrails enhance mobility safety. The special population toilet is further equipped with a foldable baby care table, facilitating diaper changes for parents, demonstrating meticulous consideration for family users. This type of toilet was put into use during the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Para Games, providing an efficient and inclusive sanitation solution for high-traffic scenarios.
