Grassland Mobile Tent Toilet

Admin 22 de septiembre de 2026

There are mainly two types of solutions for toilet issues in mobile tents (yurts) on the grassland: traditional herdsmen's methods and solutions for tourists.

Traditional Herdsmen's Methods

On the grassland, in the yurts where Mongolians live, herdsmen have adopted a set of traditional and environmentally friendly methods to solve toilet problems. They usually carry a small spade with them and dig a shallow pit as a temporary toilet at a leeward spot at least twenty or thirty meters away from the yurt. Choosing a leeward spot is to prevent odors from drifting into the living area and affecting the living environment. Digging a shallow pit takes into account the fragility of the grassland ecosystem, as a shallow pit will not cause serious damage to the soil structure and vegetation roots of the grassland. After use, herdsmen immediately fill the shallow pit with soil and compact it. This practice not only effectively covers the excrement, reduces odor emission, but also prevents the breeding of mosquitoes. More importantly, it can protect the grassland ecosystem. Since the grassland ecosystem is relatively sensitive, randomly discarding excrement may pollute the soil and water sources, affect the growth of grassland vegetation, and thus disrupt the entire ecological balance. By using this method of digging, using, and filling, the impact of human activities on the grassland ecosystem can be minimized to the greatest extent, reflecting the traditional concept of Mongolians respecting nature and living in harmony with it.

Solutions for Tourists

For tourists, there are also various ways to solve toilet problems on the grassland. In some grassland summer retreat scenarios, mobile toilets such as toilets are thoughtfully prepared for the convenience of tourists. These mobile toilets usually have a certain level of sanitation guarantee and can provide tourists with a relatively comfortable toilet environment. When camping on the grassland, the situation is different. Some free campsites may not have infrastructure, including toilets, so tourists need to bring their own solutions. Tourists can bring portable toilets or simple toilet devices to meet their own toilet needs. Some budget-friendly campsites may provide facilities such as free hot showers and toilets for the convenience of tourists. These campsites usually take into account the basic living needs of tourists and set up relatively complete sanitation facilities to enhance the camping experience of tourists.
