Reasonable Pricing of Mobile Toilets in Ganzi

Admin 01 de octubre de 2026

The pricing of mobile toilets in Ganzi cannot be simply judged as reasonable or unreasonable; it requires analysis based on specific circumstances.

Firstly, the 'Green Coin Toilet' on the Zheduo Mountain in Ganzi Prefecture is unique. It is a green驿on established by the 'Green Rivers' civil environmental protection organization and is part of the 'Green Coin 318' environmental protection project. This type of toilet is not a traditional public toilet and operates under a unique model. Tourists can exchange green coins by disposing of garbage or scanning a QR code with their mobile phones, and then use these green coins to use the toilet for free. This model aims to encourage tourists to participate in environmental protection actions and reduce garbage pollution, demonstrating a certain degree of public welfare and innovation. The founder of Green Rivers also stated that it is not necessary to have an empty bottle to use the toilet, and there may have been communication issues on that day. They welcome everyone to propose feasible plans for optimization and improvement. Therefore, for this type of toilet with environmental significance, its pricing model (exchange with green coins) should be regarded as an innovative incentive mechanism rather than a traditional pricing behavior, with its reasonableness more reflected in environmental education and social responsibility.

Secondly, some self-built toilets by villagers along National Highway 318 in Ganzi have poor sanitation, heavy odors, and charge fees. This is mainly due to local natural conditions that make flush toilets unusable most of the time and result in poor usage environments. To improve service levels, the local area plans to add 18 public toilets along National Highway 318 in 2024. Under current conditions, the fees charged by villagers for their self-built toilets may be to maintain basic operations and maintenance. However, due to issues with the environment and service quality, this pricing behavior may trigger dissatisfaction and质疑 (doubts) from tourists. Nevertheless, from another perspective, this is also an attempt by the local area to provide basic services through market mechanisms under limited resources.

In summary, the reasonableness of pricing for mobile toilets in Ganzi cannot be generalized. For the environmentally significant 'Green Coin Toilets,' their pricing model should be regarded as an innovative incentive mechanism; for self-built toilets by villagers, their pricing behavior needs to ensure reasonableness through reasonable pricing and supervision while improving the environment and service quality.
